9/11

Please keep this thread polite and reverent in remembrance of those who are no longer here to laugh, cry, live and die with the rest of us. I was a sophomore at Ole Miss on this fateful day...sometimes, there simply are no words.

Many people forget how many civilians were actually in the towers during the attack. The 400 first responders successfully saved 10,000 lives that day.

Today I will be hanging an American flag off the rear of our fire truck. RIP, brothers.

DSG, thank you for making this thread.

I was just a little guy in 1st grade when it happened. I don't remember much, other than being taken out of school early and not understanding what was going on. But even then, I get choked up when I see any kind of 9/11 remembrance piece or footage. I couldn't watch the first video past 2 min. but I watched the second. Instances like this have always struck a chord with me, whether I personally remember it or not. My patriotism runs strong and deep, and I hope we all really never do forget.

I'm currently a student at Texas A&M and was honored to help put up the Texas Aggie Conservative's 9/11 Memorial right alongside two of our Corps of Cadets that are on track to actively join the armed forces. We put out 2977 flags for 9/11 victims, 13 for Fort Hood, 4 for BenGhazi, and 4 for the Boston Marathon.

You are welcome KMAC. I am glad that the first two posts here besides mine have not been inflammatory or ignorant. I did not create this thread to stir up anger, or hate manger. I merely put it here so that we can....remember.

I thought I was big pimpin' that day leaving a 10th grade History class for a doctors appointment with a learners permit and no supervising adult. Sittin' in the '92 Bronco the news broke over 94.9 Bob FM, Central PA's number one country station.

Today on the base we are doing a 24hour marathon run I'll be part of later tonight.

We will never forget the lives lost .....

I was just in middle school but I knew what was going on ... maybe not the political impact but the magnitude of it. I remember going up on a hill after school and watching the smoke coming from the collapsed and burning towers. (I'm just 10 miles away from the city). My father was in the city and the plane flew right over his building as they watched in horror the fate that was unfolding. Glad he was not in the towers that day. He told me that you could feel the building rumble the planes were so close coming down the streets.

It is actually 9:11 as I write this post, I get chills every time I watch the videos and can't often hold back tears.

I'm not going to even watch again. I remember where I was that day tho. At Ford Rouge inside the old glass house.

I think this is a very moving song about 9/11

It's by Alan Jackson and some of you might have heard it before. It's hard not to get emotional while watching .... such a true statement as well "where were you when the world stopped turning"

Thanks for posting something today.

I've posted something several 9/11's over the years. Not too many people seem interested in remembering.

I can't forget. I won't forget.

I remember that day. I remember this board that day. Plenty of people had plenty to say. 12 years later, not so much. We're supposed to get over it.

That day, 12 years ago, changed me. I've said that several times over the years here, but it really did. That was the day that reality kicked me in the head.

Especially today, my thoughts have been with all those innocent people who suffered 12 years ago, and the people they've left behind to suffer without them every day after. My thoughts have been with all those who have exhibited bravery that is so beyond anything that I possess, that have fought and sacrificed on our behalf as well as the families that have sacrificed without them.

Hopefully this won't show up huge, Photobucket mobile wouldn't let me edit size. I took this pic a few years back--its a Captain America statue. Resonates with me every time I look at it.

Pockets, I know that song, well. Still tough to listen to without felling it hit ya.

Have You Forgotten? by Darryl Worley is really good too.
