Other recurring themes are:

1) the shootings take place in 'gun free' zones such as schools, movie theaters or certain portions of Fort Hood

2) the shooting continues until the shooter is confronted by someone else with a gun, at which point the shooter commits suicide or is taken down.

IMO, the Constitutionally correct way to improve the situation is to allow concealed carry in gun free areas where it is currently prohibited. I am not saying arm every teacher - many do not want nor could they handle the responsibility. But if it were common knowledge that every school had several anonymous armed citizens on campus, at least some of the criminals would not be drawn there.

it is a time for solutions, not complaining or finger pointing.

it is a gun issue.
it is a metal health issue
it is a police - school security issue.

take any one of the 3 out and this dosent happen.

to me the main focus is the mental health, the world is full of people that are functional, dont look metally disable, crazy enough to do it, smart enough to put on a vest and go to an area with little to no chance of someone firing back.

I get your point and especially agree about the mental health part.

But FWIW, there was once a school bombing in Bath, Michigan where far more kids were killed. I had not heard about this until I saw an article this week. It is a chilling example of what a psycho can do with explosives and with access to school property.

Columbine Massacre, happened during the Assault Weapons Ban. Point of fact, a nut that is willing to trade their life for yours, will, unless you kill them first.

For sure. The laws worked in the fact he tried to buy, but couldn't get what he wanted, and refused a backround check for what he could buy.

For one, News MEDIA is to blame. Ever since this happened even the most miniscule fight among teenagers is recorded then put on the 6 o clock news for the nation to see the "brutal violence" that is in our schools. Ever since I can remember our schools are un-protected to begin with, and filled with little fights that are now publicized as violence acts

One last thing. This country fails to see the light. Anything these mass public shooters do is already illegal and doesn't abide by any law applicable. They still do what they do and then the public comes out and says we need more (gun) laws. Yeah more laws for them to break....

I will say, I'm glad that most of us here are on the same page.

I am an NRA member, and I believe the NRA will have there hands after this deal.

I don't think it's all about "blame the gun" as it is "now we have the leverage we need to pass these gun control bills we have been pushing for all these years".

Bingo! Pretty much everything the media reported that day was wrong, except for there being a shooting and where it was!

Off the subject, but Ted used to be on the NRA board.

He must be living in a county with no phone service or pushing up daisies according to his 'vow'.

Funny how Ted and Sarah haven't chimed in with their opinions on the school shooting.

Oh, maybe they already have, cuz I don't watch FOX.

Why should they "chime in"? Whether they do or not is totally irrelevant.

The fact of the matter is as long as schools are "gun free zones", there will be more shootings. Psychos and criminals couldn't care less about laws. That's why any teacher that is willing should be permitted to carry.

People don't complain when a drunk driver kills a family of 5. You don't see anyone screaming that alcohol should be banned. A DUI driver can get out of jail on bond and literally go to the liquor store and buy more if he desires.

Heard a stat today that the number of people that are killed by Doctors is something like 4 times the number killed in cars. And it is 10 times the number killed by shootings in the U.S.

I guess since Obama Care is going to "fix" the Medical industry it only makes sense to move on to a different bunch of law abiding people and "help" them too.

Lean Foward, grab your ankles and enjoy your hope and change!

So are you inferring that maybe they are completely in favor of what happened? What kind of stupid comment is that and what point does it serve?

You obviously don't have a clue what I'm inferring too.
