Need help finding a hotel

Its my 2-year anniversary next week and my girl and I want to go to Panama City Beach for 2days/1night. I know all about hotels.com and all those TV commercial sites, but when reading the reviews, I'm getting a lot of people cautioning about hidden fees and stuff.

Help/tips?

I've had decent experience using hotwire its a risk though. Your generally ok if you only choose 4 star hotels. I've gotten a couple dive choosing lessor rankings. A coupl years ago I got a suite in vegas for dirt cheap.

I have scored some really good deals on priceline by using their bid process. This is fine as long as you only care about the general area you're staying in. You can not pick your exact hotel this way. Otherwise I have found expedia to normally have some of the better prices and have never had a problem with them at all. Sometimes the hotel web site has the best price it's always worth a check. The biggest hidden fee is the mini-bar, stay away from it!

Yeah but you gotta think- how do these places make money? I remember once I stayed at a hotel in Tally. I think Expedia had it at $60/night. We called the hotel and they gave us the same room for $45. I think I will browse, find what I like, and try to cut out the middle man.

BTW we're changing out destination to Amelia Island.

There's alot of dirty old hotels in pc, atleast there was when I was there in mid 2000s. You would probably have better luck looking in destin if you were getting something at random. Or just look on travel advisor, and pick out a hotel. I wouldn't think a drug/hooker hotel is what you would want. LOL

I use hotels.com for reviews and then call the hotel itself and have always gotten a better deal.
