A sign from the heavens?

My day started off with one goal in mind. Get the receiver out of the hitch of my f150 that has not been out in over 5 years.

the plan of attack was this...

and this...

vs...

Upon hooking up the chain around the tree I find the only thing that now remains of either a crow or magpie's existence...

Closer look...

Now this chain has been described to be as the "unbreakable" chain! I hooked it up and started jerking on it...

The end result....

A new 2 piece chain lol.

Now, down but not out, I decided to resort to plan "B" of the attack with these required tools...

2 hours later I end up with this...

Success! Time for a victory beer before I clean up and go on my merry way.

Upon arrival to my truck after completion of victory beer I notice something under my truck that peaks my interest.

After thorough investigation I notice this...

While seeing this and contemplating my options I call the local Ferd dealership to see about my fuel tank strap recall and they notify me that my truck does not apply to this recall. Jerks.

So. Now that the straps HAVE to come off, is this a sign from the heavens that I should possibly be installing this while I am at it?

Why didn't Ya just hook whatever you normally tow with it up and take off and it for sure would have fallen out in the 1st 100 ft. Murphy's Law. (don't ya just love Rust Country?)

The shotgun shell I found in the bush in my parents yard while I was wrapping the chain around the tree

The reason I never hooked my trailer to it is because I bought a dolly to tow my race car around. Using this hitch with my dolly the ramps like to drag on the ground. I needed this bastard hitch out so I could get my 8" drop hitch in there to use this truck to tow my race car instead of my 6 deuce. My new straps wont be here till tuesday and I race tomorrow (sunday), guess I will be towing the race car with old 6 deuce again this weekend.

For a second I thought you were trying to take the tree down with the hitch

If and when I trek through the bush I find all kinds of things especially in the spring time. When I was a wee young lad I was trekking through the bush around the yard and found a 1 cent coin to the local small town store that was dated 1902 that is still in business. We still have it. Also found a piece of the windmill that hasn't been operational since the 1930's when a tornado went through.

Best way I've found is drop the truck in drive in low range chained to a tree then keep bangin' the **** out of the drawbar with a sledge.
