bbc.com/news/technology-18735228

...Yeah, so who else thinks this is a big pile of horse ??

I think the feds are the ones that wanna put a bunch of on our computers....It has been all over the news as of late..."Go to the FBI website and download a program that scans your computer for the virus"

So, it seems if you do have this virus the feds can just boot you off the internet......wwwweeeeellllll.......i.be.dam'....

Didn't go the the website, but I know my Norton anti-virus runs a check for DNS changer, so unless private security companies are in on this conspiracy, I'd say it's legit.

Firefighter, I think you need to study how this malware works. No one is booting anyone off the internet. The FBI has simply removed a workaround THEY installed that kept infected computers connected. If your PC is not infected, you have full access. If it is infected, remove the infection.

I understand if your computer is infected you should remove it. I have an antivirus on my computer...No, I don't have it...Point was: I am not going to install a program FROM the FBI website to scan MY computer...

PS...Jack...read that article

I have explained to you previously that we run a cleaner site here. I have given you a couple of warning concering your language. If you can not post without using such language, there are other sites that do not care and allow it. We would love for you to be a part of this site, but to do so, you must play by the rules.

Thanks
Jim

The site DOES NOT INSTALL SOFTWARE on your computer. All the site does is check your DNS settings and notifies you if your DNS is pointing to one of the workaround sites that will be shut down TODAY.

There are also instructions on how to check your DNS manually if you are that paranoid.

I am not paranoid at all....I personally think its all a sham to get people to go to the FBI website and download some type of crap so they can see what we are doing....Call me crazy and I might just be....I know this site wouldn't do anything like that.....

If you really feel that way, you should probably invest in a few tinfoil hats.

Really, I CAN understand the mistrust of government, but I suspect there are ways to do what you are suggesting that don't involve your voluntary visit to an FBI website.

I just wrapped "Da Dank" (my crib) with Heavy-Duty Reynolds Wrap and pulled my wi-fi box off the wall, just to be sure I don't get infiltrated.
