Coke Experts...

Question...why does every container that Coke comes in taste different?? It's even different from the fountain from one restaurant to the next!

My favorite fountain is from McDonalds of all places, and my favorite container is the .5 liter bottles found in Europe.

Don't tell me you guys think I'm crazy either!

I'll go you one better. I think the taste is different when it comes in glass bottles.

No, that's exactly what I meant. Not only is it different between material (glass vs cans), but it's also different between sizes. A 16oz plastic bottle is completely different from a 20oz plastic bottle.

Your mistake is drinking Coke. Dr Pepper for the win!

The different taste from restaurant to restaurant differs because of the people setting them up and calibrating the machine. Some people may add more syrup than others.

The different containers baffles me though. Glass bottles taste different from cans and different from plastic bottles.

The European version may be different from the U.S. version so that may explain your difference.

I read mexican coke is hot, because it uses real sugar instead of that high fructose corn syrup crap.

I can definitely taste the difference between cans/glass or plastic bottles of most anything.

I'm with everyone else, I can only taste a difference between glass, can, plastic bottle. Same goes for my beers; can, bottle, tap.

water from different places tastes different and soda in fountains comes in tanks that need water to be added to make the soda.

The difference in water at bottling plants can also cause a taste difference.

I'm a Diet Pepsi drinker, not a Coke drinker, but I can tell you as someone who travels all over the country on business that Diet Pepsi in cans tastes different everywhere I go. I suspect it has a lot to do with the water used by the local bottling plants. FWIW -- the Diet Pepsi sold in central and southern Missouri borders on being completely undrinkable.....

A funny side note: My father-in-law was a VP of Sales for Coca-Cola for 25+ years before he retired, and so he has always been a tad miffed that I have refused to convert to Coke products after marrying his daughter. When we go visit them on the weekends, I always make sure to take an empty Diet Pepsi can and place it over the top of his car antenna before we leave. Other times I'll make sure every cupholder in his vehicle has an empty Diet Pepsi can in it. When he took a recent vacation, I went to the airport where his car was parked and placed about 50 empty Diet Pepsi cans in his trunk so they'd be waiting for him when he got back from his trip. Good laughs.....

There's Dr Pepper, then everything else is a coke.
