i actually really like the interior. my mother has one that i drove around yesterday and i actually didn't like it at first because it seemed so wide and spacious. it really felt bigger than my truck on the inside. oh and the complaint about the room in the second row is completely bogus. im 6.1-6.2 and i can pretty much fully extend my legs sitting back there.

the my touch stuff takes getting use to but it all works fine. the touch screen in dash though seems very slow. i actually froze it up at one point and it stayed frozen for 20 minutes or so until i cut the car off and let it reset.

power wise, it seems fine. my mothers is a 2011 i believe without the eco boost but it drives just like any similar car. it has plenty of power for the type of person that is buying the car.

I hope they do away with the explorer. They have always been crap since they are based off the ranger. They don't hold their value at all either.

The new Explorer is not based off of the Ranger. My 94 Ranger 4.0 was awesome as was my 96 Explorer (Ranger platform).

I'm with motor trend. If those numbers (0-60, fuel mileage, price, weight) are correct... what a dump.

I think they look incredible. The mytouch is OK. That headunit can actually become somewhat distracting at first if you dont know what youre doing.

Being in the market for the new explorer, and having actually driven one (well, rode in one as my wife drive it), the interior is awesome, I'm so so on the looks, but we drove the 3.5 V6 and it was plenty of power. I wouldn't tow anything with it, even though its rated for 4500lbs I think, but hell, thats what my truck is for. The price tag is what I can't get over, I mean crap, I could get the lincoln equivelent for like 2 g's more. Even the XLT's start at like 35k.

Wow, they're really down on it. I wasn't too impressed with the 4.0 that came in my '91 model. I think it only had 160 hp.

Yep, exactly the same platform, which is why the police are looking at using it for their new vehicle line.

Nice choice, but if you didnt have that much coin to drop, the new durango is actually a nice looking machine (at least on paper).

For the OP, the styling of the new explorer isnt bad, but there are a LOT of things wrong with it as others have pointed out. I cant forsee myself looking at a current gen explorer for any reason.

I'm not a fan of it. I like the Edge better.

Oh yes... Not that it goes directly with your post, but it did remind me. Uhaul will not let you rent a trailer from them if you're using an Explorer to tow it. Their reasoning is that Explorer still has a bad rap from the firestone tire rollover stuff. Basically if anything does happen and they need to hire a lawyer, it's immediately more expensive because of the name alone. So really, the name is fairly tarnished even to this day.

The issue with mytouch is that it is actually worse than sync. It does have some nicer features, but they rushed it out and left a LOT of bugs in place. While sync isnt a perfect system, it has far less flaws than the mytouch system. Until they work out the kinks, I'd steer clear of it too. That was actually one of my big reasons for wanting to get a truck sooner, wanted to get a model before they push mytouch into it.

I'm not looking to buy it I just dis agree with them on the looks and styling, I think it looks great. Performance wise I can't speak on it b/c I haven't driven it. My next FORD will be a Shelby

i dont blame you. Dodge has figured this out too:

5.7L V8 with 360 hp/390 lb ft of torque, with a Mercedes transmission ( ) versus 3.5L V6 with 290 hp/255 lb ft of torque. Jeeze, what a fair competition. Why don't they use the Expedition with a 5.4L V8 producing 310/365?
