Wasn't as bad as they said it seemed once it hit New York if you weren't right on the coast

A lot of people are without power, 15 dead last time I heard, but the southern states got nailed and in RI and along Cape Cod they are afraid of the high tides. The winds have died down considerably... down to 29-30 mph but along the cost and out near the islands 50-60mph winds still. She's currently over Vermont

I've been on the road all day so I haven't seen the updates on the deaths. That's terrible.

Complete devastation here at my house. There was a significant amount of rain causing everything to get wet. The wind was treacherous. There has got to be at least two dozen leaves on the lawn that have been violently blown from the trees.

In all seriousness, there have been a lot of people who have suffered as a result of this natural disaster, not unlike people from all around our country who have suffered throughout the year from natural disasters. Some get more media attention than others.

I hope everyone who's been effected by mother natures power can pick up the pieces and put them back together.

You never wish any deaths or injuries on anybody and I hope that the folks suffering find comfort. But come on. This was nothing but an over grown thunderstorm. Rain of 5-8 inches. Jeez, we get that every year over night in the south along with the 60-80 mph winds. And sometimes several times a year. The "devastation" I saw on the news was from lousy, cheap infrastructure, not storm damage. Some union dimwit obviously has been having his way with the taxpayers money. Apparently there are no engineers up north that have a clue otherwise a lot of the damage would not have happened. You folks living up there, remember this come election day or quit gripping about the extreme taxes yer paying.

Momma says a hurricane is like a box of chocolates...

Isabel (2003) 23 trees down & on a generator for 14 days.
Irene (2011) 0 trees down & on a generator for 3 days.

I've been wearing my 'I survived Irene and lived to tell about it' t-shirt for three days.
Sorry, I just excited about any reason not to bathe.

Irene here in eastern nc....thousands are still without power. many main stoplights are still 4 way stop signs causing wrecks everyday still. i work for the cable company down here and i have seen aleast 45 houses with trees on or through them. 5 cars crushed by trees. 4 deaths in the 3 counties we cover from trees coming down...it was alot bigger than some have seen i guess.

Went out biking with my dad... so many people are without power and man there are trees down on a lot of roads... we had to watch it (road bikes) but man had no idea and these trees were down a few miles from my house. A lot of road closures around here

Today is the 6th anniversary of Katrina and I remember it like it was yesterday. Glad Irene didn't do more damage then it did up on the East Coast but it show's what these storm's can do even if they lose some of their punch. Hope everyone made it through OK.
