all the phones are acting screwy...most likely because everyone and their brother are calling out. texts aren't going through either.

My wife's office building in Charlotte felt it. I felt nothing out here in the sticks.
Family in Richmond and Charlottesville area can't be reached at the moment.

We felt it up here on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Weird back and forth sensation.

It lasted about 10 seconds then a pause for about 5 seconds then another shake for about 5 seconds.
Most likely the P wave (compressional wave or ground movement in and out) then the S wave later (sin wave or ground movement up and down).

P waves move alot faster and stronger and since you are realively close to epicenter, you most likely felt them both.

Felt it here in Baltimore, MD. Definitely a different feeling. I work in a hospital and we were temporarily evacuated. It didn't go quite as smoothly as our drills do, but all in all not bad. A lot of terrified people, that's for sure.

Terrified describes my dog.
When it hit we both ran into the living room and he pee'd on the carpet twice.

I only pee'd once.

I felt it here in NC. I thought it was the roofers moving around on the roof at first. No pee in the floor or lost tires though. Too far away from the epicenter I guess.

I felt it here in NC too. We are relatively close to VA so I watched the pictures on the wall shake, but that was about it.

Some people and their dogs just scare easier than others.

Definitely felt it in Mount Airy. Chandeliers swinging, etc.
We had a 3.1 not too far from here (Gaithersburg, MD) a year or 2 ago. From what I read then, due to the ground composition etc on the east coast, the tremors are felt at a far grater distance than they are on the west coast. In this case from Toronto to Atlanta.
