As a welcome relief from politics, as I sit here we have an adult male bobcat sleeping on our patio under the plants near the corner by my office. This is the first bobcat we've seen in the 12 years we've lived here, so it's pretty exciting.
I know he's a male because my first views of him were from his south end, and, he's fully "intact" as they say.
Since I know the post is worthless without pics, I did my best. It's through a double paned window and the reflections are bad, but you can certainly see him, sound asleep in the first.

In the next, someone's car alarm had just gone off, so he was wondering what the kerfuffle was all about.

He's sacking out again now. I'm guessing him at 30-35 pounds. Looks really healthy, and hope he's here to control our ground squirrel population.

Jack, you do much better with animal posts than you do with political posts.

I was thinking I should post a sign: "Warning - Guard Cat".
And Coy, we have rattlers in the yard too. They've always been diamondbacks. Some have been quite large.

Bobcats are so cool, haven't seen one in years. My parents heard that there was a "mountain lion" or some "big cat" out near their house. I believe it was their neighbors a DPS officer in a chopper looking for some runners and saw it jump in a tree. Pretty crazy since there aren't supposed to be any big cats around our area.
OK, not to hijack this thread, but I noticed you are from Lockhart -- one of these times when I head up to Austin I've been meaning to divert your way and grab some of the BBQ you have in town that I keep hearing about -- any advice on who's got the best brisket?
I really cant say I have a fav, they are all pretty good. But I keep finding myself going back to Chisholm Trail for their brisket. Everyone locally tends to be loyal to one or the other. I grew up about 15 miles down the road in Luling and grew up on City Market bbq, IMO they have the best sausage and bbq sauce I have ever had. Lockhart is the "Bbq Capital of Texas" so I guess you really can't go wrong with any of them, I honestly don't know what all the hype is about though I have had just as good back yard bbq.
