Didn't see a section for introductions. Sorry if I missed it. Just a stop by for a hello and some info. Doug, 2000 F150, 5.4 no mods. Owned for a month now. Love the body style hate the engine. I'm sure I will be asking dumb questions. I am a backyard mechanic by necessity not by choice. If I had the choice local Ford dealer would be rich from my not wanting to get dirty.

Most recently my service engine soon light came on. Auto Zone said it was in efficient cat. exhaust shop pin pointed the thermostat. something about an open loop in the fuel delivery and running too cool. Anyhoot I replaced the thermostat and it's running fine for now.

if maintained properly the 2v 5.4 is an extremely reliable engine. give it a chance and learn its nuances and you might end up liking it.

I guess I mis-spoke. It's not so much the engine I dislike it's Ford's design of those spark plug threads. It's a real scary thought of that much damage from that design. Apologies to those offended.
