I don't care about reliability. Say you are shopping for a 2WD, single cab, V6 truck (I don't know why anyone would, lets just be hypothetical for a minute here).

The picture explains it all. 100 more HP and better MPG? Whats not to love? Going through sources, the 4.3L came out in 1987 and is last major redesign was 1993. Its got no place in the truck market anymore. Yet they still sell an inefficient POS.

Like I said they are around so long because they are reliable. I care about reliability. I can understand it about the 4.3 but the 5.3 is a good engine. pretty speedy and turns lower rpm's. You have every right to compare the 2011 ford f150 to the 2011 chevy silverado, but ford has had a re-design on all engines. Chevy hasn't so I hope they get on it. the only new engine they have is the 6.2. Me personally, I like the previous gen of silverado's (99-07) those trucks were awesome.

All the brands are reliable if maintained. Each have their great things I like about them and things I hate (even on the fords) but when it comes down to it I grew up with fords around me and will drive & own nothing but a ford.
Back in the day I admit to having been a Camaro guy.. I've had 4 a 75 Type LT a 85 z28 a 86 z28 and an 86 coupe. When they redesigned 93 camaro came out I was acually thinking about buying one-until I saw it that generation of Camaro was disgusting. Looked like they brought in Saturn engineers to design it. Didn't look like the historical Camaro one bit. That was how Chevy blew it with the Camaro right there. The deal with the current car is its really nice looking and I applaud them for that but one thing the forgot is it they have to produce it for a price that a young person can afford. The coupe has to be priced at about 22-25 grand. Most Camaros are over 30 grand the nice ones are over 40 thats corvette money IMO..

My kid has a 99 Ram. The only issue Im aware of it his water pump bit the dust. He's had 2 dodges and both of them have had the water pumps fail on him. That truck was such a good deal I couldnt pass it up. only had 45k miles on it and it looked like a brand new truck. I wanted to get him and F-150 but I couldnt pass that deal..

Yea you can buy a new mustang gt cheaper then the camaro with a v8 and still have some money to add mods. Funny thing is even a 2010 mustang gt with a lot less horsepower can almost spank the new camaro. The 2011 mustang with the 5.0 is an awesome mustang. I will admit my uncle had a firebird ws6 with the ram air hood and I really liked the car, but I dont think I could pass up a 03-04 cobra (uncle owns a sonic blue 03) or 2011 5.0 mustang gt for a firebird...

Have a source for this?

I don't think they have the same reliability, I think Ford is inherently built better, because the basic design has more flaws with the Chevy. Yeah, you can break either one, but I don't think they're starting on equal footing. If they were, Chevy sales wouldn't have been in the toilet for such a long time.

Also to add to how Ford is dominating, The Tundra is number 6 on the list for top ten most disappointing vehicles for 2010!

I truly love ford, no doubt, but Chevy is built just as well if not better. Its all about how you take care of it. My expedition is garbage compaired to my uncles silverado, thats the truth. but he owned his truck since it was new and we didnt. My other uncle went from ford to chevy because chevy was willing to bend on pricing, ford wont budge one bit now!

Consumer Reports would disagree with you.

I have to disagree with that, keep in mind im talking about a 2005 Silverado. The thing is all of the Fords we have had have died prematurely because of quality issues. 2 aerostars are done because of blown headgaskets and one suffered a tranny failure. Ford Taurus, tranny took a dump. Expedition? Doing ok, but it costed alot of money to get it road worthy. Ford Focus? the most reliable ford we have because zetec's are indestructible! Now lets take a look at family members with GM's- uncle had an old 91 saturn, 275,000+ miles and still running fine, just sold it to use as extra cash to get the 2005 silverado. silverado is still going great with 160,000+ miles and he averages around 20-30,000 miles a year, as a DD. aunts Vue is doing pretty good. other uncles 2010 Chevy Silverado? good so far, but its new so why shoudnt it be fine. It's just from personal experience that I find gm's more reliable. Now 2009+ I believe Ford beats Chevy out because they did raise the bar.
