Thumbs up Newer Model Ford Trucks- Odd Looking ??!

Is it just me or are the newer Ford trucks odd looking?? I am referring to the last 2-3 model years. They just have lost that classic Ford "look".. Both the front and back ends look silly. Things took a turn for the worst after 1996, although the 97's and a few years after that were at least somewhat decent looking. I know I am ticking alot of people off, but it's just my humble opinion. I think Ford should go back to the old classic Ford squared off look. It was unique to Ford and set them apart from the others.

The beers are on me, friends.

It's definitely a debatable topic.

I remember when the 10th generation debuted. I was all up in arms with disappointment over the new, bubbly, aerodynamic look. Since that time, I've now owned two trucks from that very generation that I initially despised so much. And now I'm quite fond of that generation.

I think it's just common for us F-150 enthusiasts to feel "our" generation truck is the best design ever. Just like how you say your 96 is the classic design, and how I like my 10th gen trucks, etc.

Honestly, my favorite is the 6th generation (from what I've driven and experienced). I'd love to have a "new" 1979 F-150 standard cab, long bed, 4x4.

I'm not a fan of the new ones. The tailights look like they just threw them at the truck and that where they landed. They don't fit the style of the truck at all. The front shows LOTS of ingenuity. Sloop the front, add headlights somewhere, and a grille, you have the new F150. The interiors while good, are getting to be old by design. Looking at my 91 Bronco and the new F150 and there not a lot of change inside and hardly any change over my 2004. Actually, I prefer the Bronco interior, it's more functional, comfortable, and less glitz although not near the glitz of a GM truck, thankfully. The new ones have zero character from a design aspect. But the running gear engineering is top shelf with most offerings. So do you buy because of the looks, the brand, or reliability? If it's looks, you need glasses. If I'm buying a first year model or a new one of a different body style, I want it to look different. The new F150 is just part of the crowd on the street in stock form. Hardly makes me want to go buy a new one especially when the old one runs great....and there's no monthly payment.

I didn't care for the latest variation when it first came out, but it is growing on me. The interior of the new trucks (especially the seat material) is far superior to the '04 - '08 trucks.

I agree that the tail lights on the new models are atrocious -- they look like cheap aftermarket units that some 15-year-old kid bought from J.C. Whitney and stuck on his old man's pick-up.....

For the next re-do, it would be neat for Ford to reach back into their heritage and pick-up some styling cues from past models ala what they did with the Mustang in '05.....

Tail lights make me wanna puke. Of coarse I still think the 99-03 were the best looking F150's.

I own the 2011 and I must say I liked my '96 much better. My current one is great and has a lot more gizmos and defiantely more luxury, but I liked my bare bones truck.

Ford would have sold a lot less F150's if their designs had stagnated.
Redesigning vehicles is the name of the game.

I've had a '94, '98, '04 and now the '11. They all have their pros and cons.

My 2011 is a good, solid truck, which is what I expect from Ford.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Looks pretty good to me, although I have liked every design after 1997.

Ive always like the 92-96 model's and i still think the best looking trucks are the 97-03's. After 03 i think the looks went down hill

I like pretty much all F150's after 92 I think It was when they changed them. I think from personal observation of this site, as well as where I live, popular vote for the best looking F150's are the 97-03 (99-03 looked the best IMO). I can't drive more than 5 blocks without seeing at least 5 97-03 F150's running around. I live in Longmont, Colorado and I the majority of the trucks I see are 97, 99, and 10-11. 99 is the most popular out here, they are also the EASIEST to pick out, it was the first year of the honeycomb grill and it was gray, and there was no oh s**t bar on the drivers side

I hated the 97-03 style when it came out but I like it now. I dont know about the grill on some of the new trucks. The rest of it i dont have a problem with.
