social security disability

I came out of the store and found the local news folks were down in my area doing a story on a family of muchers that are all on SSDI. One of them (the youngest at 17) was having a hard time getting SSDI due to him having ADHT and finally got it after many months and many questions relating to why the whole dam family is getting a handout from SSI. This really pisses me off to no end.
How in the world can an entire family (of 6) be on SSDI???,. I asked the reporter and she said she was disgusted also. If they even put this on the news they had better print the whole story. By the way they in the driveway (they own the own home), they all live together and have a 07 explorer a 02 blazer and a 08 Camry??? I also thought i seen a boat in the garage but they closed the door fast as a small crowd gathered. Here we are all working our tails off and these slackers just take advantage of the system?? How can this be?? an entire family (of 6) living off if us tax payers, man say it ain't so....There has got to be a way of them working...

There will ALWAYS be slackers, and, there will always be the TRULY "needy". The trick is in figuring out which is which.

I doubt many of us want to see a family starve (and I mean that literally) if they have no means of support and no possible means of gaining that support. And, we don't expect to see them buying ice cream, cigarettes and beer either.

The moochers give the whole concept of social assistance a bad name. The only way to combat this is to "out" them. Congress doesn't seem to have the will to do so, just as it doesn't have the will to enforce income tax laws that are already on the books that would catch and penalize tax cheaters. (Possibly they're afraid of being caught in the same net?)

So, "out" the moochers, and maybe the tax evaders who boast about beating the system too? Maybe this is something about which we should all give very serious consideration?

It's hard though, when we were brought up thinking we should not "rat" on our fellow man. Perhaps it's time to grow up!

Bucky - if they run the story, there will be alot of questions asked... it's probably the last thing they wanted...

Despite all the negative attitudes towards the media, in cases like this, where is the SS?

Not sure, but did you mean ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)? It can be a real problem in life if someone doesn't learn how to cope with it - sounds like parenting skills were missing in this family...

There will always be bad apples and people trying to take advantage of the system.... whether as this or veterans or policemen, etc.... this is not much different than a policeman double dipping on pension... same cloth & intention....

ADHD can be treated, and in most cases controlled quite handily.

Jack this reporter was there to ask why he was having a problem getting SSDI. The parents called the news in a attempt to get their story out so thier son could get the ssdi. She (the reporter) said she was not even going to report on it. I said WTH why not she has the powers to out them all. I agree that there are some that need help and i have nothing against them but when i see a family of 6 bucking the system then it's time for change....

Bucky - we're on the same page. I think you know that!

I have no patience for someone who is "gaming" the system. I'm happy to let them starve. (But of course we have to think about innocent children - there's always a complication, isn't there? Perhaps we take them away and make them "wards of the State?" Then, let the "gamers" starve - good riddance!)

And too, there can be "destitute" mothers who have no real way to support a family.

And, we certainly know there are war vets who have VERY serious disabilities that are not being recognized by the Government that they went off to defend. This has been going on since at least Vietnam, and maybe longer. Once you come home from a war, it is easy to forget what you did.

It all gets VERY complicated. I don't have a good answer, except to "out" the cheaters.

Man Bucky, you hit on one sore subject at my house. My sisters grand daughter is married to a lazy POS that paid a doctor to certify that he has ADD(attention deficit disorder). Here's this able bodied dimwit that watchs cable TV all day long, has a new car in the driveway, getting a hefty check from SS every month while some poor elderly lady that paid into the system all of her life sits alone in her apartment eating dog food because this POS gets more money than she does. He already knows not to come around when I'm there, I can't stand a dead beat.

That's sickening.
When my wife and I were starting out Buck, we lived in a rental townhouse, we had good jobs (nurse and prison guard) but no cash, so we rented until we saved up a downpayment.

The people next door were exactly like in your original post.
All 4 of them were collecting some form of assitance for their bs medical issues.
Carpo tunnel, bad back, ADD for the kid, the other one played the mental disorder game and got on a pension.

Meanwhile they all worked under the table jobs subsidizing their handouts.
He delivered Pizza and chinese food at night, she was working as a cleaning company, they even got the kids cleaning with them.

Now I'm a live and let live guy, but when my alarm goes off at 5am, and I've got to slug it out at the big house for 8 hours a day putting up with loads of crap, and then they have a bigger TV than me, a boat, 3 cars (all in various family members name) It burns my ***.

Meanwhile these bums are sleeping in until noon every day.

I actually called social services on them and you know what happened?
SFA!
(sweet f-all)

Nothing!

These cowards are so afraid of wrongfully accusing someone and stirring the hornets nest, they would rather just pay and **** than do something about it.

Some of you guys here think I'm a bleeding heart liberal, its the furthest from the truth, I'm happy to help people who need it and I dont begrudge it one bit but cases like this and buckys example is what angers people the most.

This stuff just burns me up.
I've always been a go-getter, I can't understand the mindset of lazy bums who mooch off the toil of others.

For over thirty years I get up at 6 a.m. and drive my wife to work.

At 5 p.m. I go getter.

You only had to work 8 hours a day? I wish!
