It's an old *** Lincoln with not much value. Get the check from insurance. Get as much of the dent PDR'd, and let it be.

That dent is in a really bad spot man. You would have to replace that trunk section, maybe a junk yard would have a similar one already the same color and you could get lucky. I would file something like that also. I prefer my vehicles or anything I own for that matter to be in as nice of condition as possible because I take pride in the things I have earned. Thats just my opinion. I would get it fixed, but coming from someone who has done body work, you will not get that crease out of that trunk lid.

You might be able to PDR a little bent of that dent out if you choose not to completely replace the lid, but depending on how hard the metal is there, it could keep coming back. Especially if the dent put a ripple in the rest of the lid, it will be really hard to get the metal to go back to its original shape without heating it.

Why stress over it and fix it? Its a 15 year old Lincoln man. Let it go and save the $$.

Get the check. Pocket the cash. A dent in the trunk for maybe ~2 months worth of gas sounds like a good deal to me

I doubt his auto insurance will cover it, but his homeowners should.

Holy crap that's expensive. If it turns into a huge hassle, tell the dude to give you a few hundred bucks and be done with it. If you want to fix it, go to a salvage yard and pick one up for $50, then have a body shop paint it for you, then install it yourself. Should be out the door for a few hundy. Or, run it as-is, cause it's a 15 year old car. The dent isn't going to affect the value.

Get your own estimates first, most of the time, the other person’s insurance company try to low ball you. Once you have a good idea, you can negotiate with them. Not sure whether his TX car insurance or home insurance will be used to settle this.

After a week the insurance adjuster finally called today. He asked me what happened and i told him. He then said ok do you have a estimate to get it fixed. I told him yes and he said ok no need to see the car and to just fax the crash report and the damage estimate. He told me he will get it taken care of. So its sounded pretty good. Cant believe they arent even going to look at the car.

Check came in today. They treated me very good. Insurance gave me the 1220 for the repair and gave me another 250 for a rental if i decide to get it fixed. $1470 aint to shabby at all since i only paid 1800 for the car
