Copenhagen ...

So, I've been dipping sniff for 2 1/2 decades. I am finally at the point in my life to quit. It's tough. I've been at it for a week now, and sunflower seeds are my friend, but it isn't helping. I knew I wasnt going to quit cold turkey so I've been dipping cheap, dry Crap. That isn't helping either.

Anyone have any tips? I'm tired of being grumpy and short fused....well, more short fused than normal.

Sir, Im feeling ur pain. Im at about $300 a month and it's killing me. It is a straight up ADDICTION! I tried Chantix, cold turkey and Grizzly,,,,,all to no avail. I know my body doesnt need it, but I crave it when I dont have it. There is a shot that costs $450 that supposedly stops the cravings, but insurance doesnt cover it. I want to quit too.

The shot would be covered by cost savings from not dipping for a little over a month.

I'm not big on adding chemicals to my body. I'm gonna try this without drugs. Who knows, that might have to be an option.
I'm down to two dips a day. I'm on my second week, and my cut off is the 4th. Man that's gonna be tough.

You can only do it one day at a time. Although one hour or one minute might be the case is some instances. It does get better. I found it hardest after I thought I was completely off the nicotine. I stilll had slight cravings and felt I could hang with one or two. Don't beleive it. Once you fall off the wagon you have to work to stay on it, at least for a day or two.

I dipped C for 30 years. Skoal started giving me heartburn.
Finally quit while going thru my divorce. That was 17 years ago.

Both my parents are from the deep south and every male member of my family either chewed, dipped or smoked.

Gramps grew tobacco in Kentucky as one of his cash crops.

The first week of cold turkey felt like I had a lightning bolt going thru me, constantly. After the second week, not too bad.

Nasty, nasty habit, worse than smoking, I think.

I agree high-ster...nasty habit. Support from my friends is helping a lot. The more tips I get to help be break this habit, the better. I'm also trying not to eat my way past this. Since its an oral habit, food seems to help with cravings. I'm a diabetic, so eating isn't a great idea. Back to the sunflower seeds. I'm on bag two, but they are tearing up my mouth too.

I dipped for 8 years...Grizzly, Cope, whatever.

The best thing I've used to battle the urge is Commit Lozenges. They're nicotine lozenges that are actually for smokers who are trying to quit smoking. Put them in your lip, spit just like with dip. I use the Equate WalMart brand...$32 bucks for 100 lozenges. You gota use 3-5 of them at once to get a twinge. I definetely recommend them. I haven't dipped in 4 months and I dont even have the urge to anymore.

I would definetely give them a try, use them a few times in place of dip and you'll catch on.

I quit chew cold turkey once they found and cut out 4 puss pockets from my lower lip....
But then the nicotine addiction still had me in grasp and I started to smoke....
In the end its going to be your will power and wanting to beat the nicotine......your body won't be happy for awhile....

Nicotine gum wasn't bad but the lozenges seem to work pretty well. And I dipped the tough stuff...Grizzly, about 1/3 of a can at a time

Good luck with it. I quit smoking in October and started chewing because it's cheaper. Then prolly a month or 2 ago I decided to quit chewing which worked for about 2 weeks. I was eating more because like you said it's an oral addiction and the food helped. Then it got to the point where it was more of a habit because I'd come home and feel like I was missing somethin so I started again.

When I finally did quit, to prove I was serious (and ICOE), I carried an un-opened can around in my pocket for about a year.

It ain't as hard as stopping reefers, tho.

I bought some nicotine gum. 30 bucks a pack?! Anywho, this stuff tastes like Crap. I haven't had a dip all afternoon so I guess its helping.
I hate that for you racing. Another reason I want to quit.
