It's tough, I have a dip of snuff in all day when I'm working. When I'm at home, I usually take about 2-3 a day. I know what you mean about the sunflower seeds, my mouth hurt so bad after the first day. I just said screw it.

it should be tuff to quit. you have pure nicotine going right into your system thru the tissue in your mouth, not to mention what you swallow. i think its a whole lot tougher than cigarettes

Anyone who quits has some damn good will power. I go threw a can a day if not 1 1/2 a day. I have tried to stop and i sware my temper gets the worst of me. Ive tried to quit several times and my temper was so bad the wife would walk in with a can of snuff .

I did have some what good luck at with that herbal smokey mountain snuff. I think its worked for me cause i knew i had something in my lip.

Good Luck

i also am trying to quit, actually ive been trying to quit for awhile now, i chewed about a can every other day for a good 2-3 years until my jaw and lip hurt... i knew i couldnt quit cold turkey, so i switched from skoal straight long cut to skoal straight pouches and my lip doesnt hurt anymore... i have made some progress and i am down to a can of pouches a week! the best advice i can give is take it slow, make a can last longer than usual. candy, gum and sunflower seeds work good too! try to set goals like pretend your job was tobacco free and you couldnt chew there. sounds dumb but it works. i know how hard it is to quit so goodluck! just my 2cents.

There cannot be a more disgusting habit than dipping! Why a girl would even marry a guy who did this stuff is beyond my ability to comprehend! I can see where smoking has a "moody allure" to it, but dipping -- THAT'S JUST PLAIN OLD NASTY......

Good luck Jameswayne, it's tough for about the first month then it starts to taper off. Bad part is if you start up again it's all the way back to square one.

Hang in there.

I know this sounds a little weird but a customer in the store where I work was telling me the other day that she used hypnosis to help her quit smoking. She said she was skeptical about the results beforehand but once she'd been hypnotized she didn't even have the cravings anymore. Just a thought. Good luck Jamzypoo!

Man if you find the answer please post it up... I quit cold turkey and stayed off of it for 2 years, then one day got a craving, decided it wouldn't hurt to have "just one chew", and well i'm back at it :-( .

YUP, My Grandma dipped "Bruton Scotch Snuff". It's ground as fine as talc. Talk about something tough.

I tried it and couldn't handle it.

quiting is all up to you. you started it you have to quit it. make it a mind game that you are in control. make no excuses to yourself for slipping up. dont buy it, dont bum it. it aint easy. i chewed for years and quitting was hard but not as hard as getting off prescription pain killers after surgery. that was a challenge and an f'd up experience.

Day 7.
I'm more grumpy than usual. My mouth is as sore as a hooker on nickel night from sunflower seeds. And my whole body aches from all the extra honey do list items....
I dunno....I might have to cheat today.

Don't cheat. Just think about your health and the mod money you are saving.
