(Same thing, isn't it?) Business is business.

I've been using Verizon for 10 years, 4 with unlimited data.

Never been charged a dime over my contract price.
Not the same, Ford doesn't take it back from existing customers and raise their prices, although all automotive industry dealings are shady.
You don't have unlimited data anymore. You may not go over what's allotted, but it's not unlimited. I use about 9g a month on my BlackBerry, but that has included working on whatever field location for the Department of Commerce and working several remote telecommunications sites, so I use a lot more than the average bear.

There ya go folks, if'n it's read on the 'net' it's got to be true................

Seems if anything was changed on my plan, it would be listed in my Verizon account, which it isn't as of today 1/16/11.

If it does change, I'll post the results.

Existing customer accounts will remain unchanged, I'll wager. Until the call plan is changed, when signing up for a new contract, then it will come into play.

So in actuality they aren't taking anything away from existing customers, the unlimited data plan will no longer be available for new customers, just like dealer rebates and incentives.

No they wont, you either cant read or refuse to look at the other pages and threads where members who are customers have already talked to verizon about it.

So in actuality yes they are, their taking away the rebates when upgrading to a new phone without waiting the full term of your contract, and their taking away the additional rebates when you do wait the full term.

It sounds to me like for some reason you feel like you are being personally attacked when someone points out something stupid and wrong that Verizon is doing. Here's a little tip for you, relax, just because you chose verizon doesn't mean its the best carrier for everyone, or even the best carrier.

Unlimited data on VZW is, as of right now, this very moment, for all plans, still available. It is exactly the same as it has always been. Nothing has changed

Verizon has eliminated the New Every Two rebate which, based on your calling plan, was either $30 or $50. This was essentially a customer loyalty program.

Doesn't Sprint charge a mandatory $10/month ‘Premium Data Charge’ for all 4G capable phones whether you live in a 4G area or not? That's what I consider to be shady.

Get your facts straight, the $10 charge is for truly unlimited data on 3g and 4g, no bs 5gb cap that they don't tell you about and then charge you tons of money for. Verizon seems pretty shady calling something unlimited which is in fact limited.

Please get your facts straight.

All Sprint customers who have the latest 4G capable phones (ie HTC EVO) are mandated to pay an ADDITIONAL $10/month over and above all charges just for having a 4G phone.

This is regardless of whether or not the phone is ever used in a 4G area.

As far as I'm aware their 'unlimited' plan is still existent. They haven't announced tiered data yet.

they are taking away a 30 - 80 dollar bonus for returning customers. At the expiration of your plan, you'll still be able to get a subsidized phone, it will cost you the same as a new customer. You won't get the additional 30 bucks a new customer wouldn't get...

I am serious who said anything other than what you just said. Yes if you have a 4g capable phone you must pay the 10 bucks extra per month. However that is not for 4g access it is to cover the large amounts of data that these phones use, by giving you true unlimited internet. Sprint is upfront about this, not like Verizon who tells you its unlimited and then gives you a 5gb cap on your data.

If Verizon is only giving 30 bucks then no big loss, Sprint gives me an extra 150 for a new phone every year, or 75 every 6 months.

If you are not capable of discussing the topic without resulting to personal attacks then you might want to sit this one out.

Nice argument when you haven't made a single valid point yet.

According to Sprint, the $10 fee is not for 4G access, its for premium data. Because the Evo and Epic are bigger data consumers than their other smart phones, they are charging a premium on the data. Their explanation of the charge is shady as heck, but afterall, it is not explicitly a 4G fee, it just happens to be on all of their heavy data consuming phones (4G phones).

even with the $10 charge their unlimited data plans are still the most affordable.

what bugs me about sprint is the lack of good devices.
