A funeral is a place of closure for families, there is no purpose to protesting at a funeral. Protesting is not going to change anyone from gay to straight, don't these idiots realize that? What also bothers me is the lack of stopping this - what I mean is if a president or a governor dies there is no way in hell they'd allow protesters anywhere near the area. What makes homosexual funeral any different than a governor or president? We're all people, we're all equal, no one is better than anyone. I feel alot better knowing you guys are just as outraged by the westboro baptist Clan as I am, even if some of you don't agree with the gay lifestyle, you also agree that they are spreading the wrong message. What is even worse is watching that video above and seeing a little girl holding a hate sign, that is sick and we wonder why people are growing up with so much hate.
Really what is the "wrong message" they are spreading?

"ALL scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness..." (2 Timothy 3:16)

Christians do oppose homosexual acts, just so happen that this man and his congregation are seriously faithful to the Scriptures and take the warnings therein seriously.

Preachers like Mr. Phelps sound the warnings because of genuine concern for others even though they seem harsh and unloving. But facts are facts, the Word of your fearing God warns that certain types of behavior will cause people to be lost.

The Old Testament is not to be ignored. All of the vicious Old Testament laws will be binding forever. "It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid." (Luke 16:17) If sin is transgression of the law, as 1 John 3:4 says, then Mr. Phelps is following all of the Old Laws.

It doesn't matter what "holly" Bible you read "the word of God", not Mr. Phelps, advocates death upon homosexuals.

Leviticus 20:13

New International Version (1984)
"If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

New Living Translation (2007)
"If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense.

English Standard Version (2001)
If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

New American Standard Bible (1995)
If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.

GOD'S WORD® Translation (1995)
When a man has sexual intercourse with another man as with a woman, both men are doing something disgusting and must be put to death. They deserve to die.

King James Bible
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.

American King James Version
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be on them.

American Standard Version
And if a man lie with mankind, as with womankind, both of them have committed abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Bible in Basic English
And if a man has sex relations with a man, the two of them have done a disgusting thing: let them be put to death; their blood will be on them.

Douay-Rheims Bible
If any one lie with a man se with a woman, both have committed an abomination, let them be put to death: their blood be upon them.

Darby Bible Translation
And if a man lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall certainly be put to death; their blood is upon them.

English Revised Version
And if a man lie with mankind, as with womankind, both of them have committed abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Webster's Bible Translation
If a man also shall lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

World English Bible
"'If a man lies with a male, as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Young's Literal Translation
And a man who lieth with a male as one lieth with a woman; abomination both of them have done; they are certainly put to death; their blood is on them.
But for those of you who still insist that the old testament is only applicable to those addressed 2,000 years ago let me remind you that the Old Testament is to be abided by until the end of human existence itself. None other than Jesus said so.
"For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:18-19)

The Covenant of Jesus Christ is further punctuated in the new testament that practicing homosexuality will keep one from entering heaven.

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God." (I CORINTHIANS 6:9,10).

I found a curiously humorous nexus because of a Johnsonville sausage ad after OG's post:

"Johnsonville sausage... unbeatable taste!"

anyone else see it?

OG- Wow! First off I don't recall anything in the "good book" depicting Jesus preaching hate like the WBC terror group preaches.

If I remember right, Jesus was protective of sinners like the prostitute.

Phelps is a nut case and the world would be a better place without their existence.

Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He doesn't have the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament.

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place." (Matthew 5:17)

Let's keep the discussion at a level that does not wish violence on anyone - please! I won't edit quotes from the Bible, but don't go beyond that.

Trust me, you're not alone in feeling this way. But, advocating violence is not a civilized approach to this problem.

Violence is what's known as a "lizard brain" reaction to things we don't like. We're supposed to be a bit more advanced.

OGTerror=Literalist?

Hey man, I really hope you don't take the bible literally. And I really hope you don't think it is ok to kill homo-sexuals because "god said so". The bible was put together by the descendants of the people, tribes, and governments that cheered his crucification on. The bible was assembled by people with an agenda. It was put together by people the enslaved races and killed women and children. While the teachings of Jesus are wonderful, don't forget one "fact" the Christians like to point out that God sees ALL SIN THE SAME and by your own arguments you should be put to death for your sins, greed, jealousy, and anything else you can diminish in the light you chose to stand under. That church and those people have no business using the grieving time of another family as a platform for hate speech.

But since you are o.k. with it, I say we all pledge to drop trousers and "drop a deuce" on your grave stone in front of your grieving family... and hopefully their Christians values will aid them in turning the other cheek while we make the stink.....

And as for your last retort, NONE of us is privvy to "The Kingdom of God", not even yourself OG Terror.

If you truly advocate what that Church has done, then you have further convinced me Religion in all forms turns intellect into ignorance and peace into war.

I will NEVER bow to a God that seeds such hate amongst men. Here is GOD in a nut shell

My point to my previous post was not to instigate nor to approve of Mr. Phelps actions. But to show how this heartless bastard is as revolting as many others who display unbelievable idiocy and disrespect for the human race generated by their religious belief system.

Most churches, Christians and believers in a supreme being still cling to the misconception that homosexuality is an evil abomination in the eyes of their God. So I can understand Mr. Phelps, NO, he is not crazy! Standing up and speaking against this "vile evil" he feel he is taking God's side, the side of "truth and righteousness", rather than taking the side of those who are committing an abomination in the eyes of his God.

It's similar to my list also. Please remember, I'm a 20-year Air Force veteran. I have no love for the WBC and don't forgive them their activities.

But, I stop short of publicly advocating violence toward them. If their approach can be made against the law, as was quickly done in Arizona by the Legislature, I'm all for it. Or, we could shout them down. Perhaps bring a few mirrors to their demonstrations and reflect a little "sunlight" on their actions? In other words, they can be made to "move on" or prevented from getting where they want to go in the first place.

where does it say in the bible that it is okay to kill anyone? give me the verses.

if you're referring to sodom and gamorrah, they were destroyed after fair warning that it would happen if they didn't change their ways. They were given ample warning, and because they spat in the face of God and his teachings, they were shown his wrath.

what about the story of Jonah? He was sent to Nineveh to preach to the people there (well noted for gambling, homosexuality, and many other things). In that situation, they heard his teaching they repented and were spared.

stop listening to bill maher, george carlin, et al. and read the bible before you start telling us it is a collection of this and that written by people with an agenda, etc.

And you are right, you are to fear God, especially someone as ignorant as yourself.
