7 days and counting..bye bye California

After living here in California for a year and a half its time to leave. Yes its gonna be bittersweet, but definitly for the best. I do love it here for the most part, but the cons definitly outweigh the pros. It takes way too much $$ to live in this state and for what reason? You have the nice weather, the ocean, desert, and plenty to do, but it just doesn't justify paying $400k for a starter home. Not to mention the taxes and eveything else. So its back to Colorado for us.

haters

From the look out my window right now, California looks like a pretty nice aternative to the 2 feet of snow in the driveway.

I lived in the high desert for almost three years, I'd take NorCal over SoCal any day if I had to choose, but taxes are state wide and I'm sure cost of living isn't much different from North to South. Colorado always looked nice when I drove through but l could also do with out the snow.

Good luck with your move.

Thank you for leaving and I wish everything works out for you in Colorado so you never comeback.

You said "we", how many of you are leaving?

For those of us who are old enough to remember the Beach Boys, Annette Funicello, and The Mamas and the Papas, what has happened to California is just astounding. And depressing. At one time, much of my family lived there -- now, not a single one calls California "home".

The taxes, the loony politicians, the crime, the anti-business climate -- they couldn't have done a more thorough job of wrecking the place had there been a 3-step plan.

It's like the Eagles song said: if you want to doom a place, call it "paradise".

Dude! why the hate? I don't know where you live, but I'm guessing California. I don't think us leaving is gonna help the overcrowed situation. And I'll definitly be back, but just to visit.

It cracks me up that all these Californians that have lived here all there lives think its the absolute best place to live and are used to all this price raping that goes on here. If they only knew how much better the quality of life could be better somewhere else. I get it, its a nice place, but better served for me as a vacation spot.

Congrats to you man. From watching the news, the weather in Mexifornia doesn't appear to be all that good these days anyway. I can't comment too much, as I've never been, but my brother was stationed there for a few years and HATED it.

no hate here man, yeah I live in Yorba Linda ca, land of gracious living and I love it here. My wife and I pay 38 percent taxes because we make a lil over 200,000 a year but I don't complain. Despite I have no complaints I don't think Cali is the best of the best place to live in. I know, there are other places better than here but here I'm living la vida loca and it's not likely that I'll be leaving to another state anytime soon.

I don't hate to hear but I love to hear people complain how terribly bad this state is in and others who have visited and say they would never come back or those who say they never been but would never come to Cali.
Why do I love to hear people complain cause I know it is crowded here and if every body leaves and no body comes it will some how be much better for me.

Texas is awful, im just putting that out there for everyone thinking of moving here. If you are really considering Texas as a place to move you won't like it and I would suggest just staying where you are because its probably better.

Birddog is right. Texas is not a fit place to live. The heat will kill most yankees in the first week. You have to know how to speak 2 languages. Crime is so bad most folks carry a firearm for protection. Wages, what wages? We pay our employers to work for them. So what if the median house looks more like a tent, it makes for a lot of valuable family time.

I've been to Kalifornia twice. Once for basic training at Daly City. I couldn't wait for the ship to leave. I went again to visit in laws and couldn't get it in the rear view fast enough. I drove my Bronco on the floor for the first 500 miles headed home. If ya like it there, ya need to stay. Texas is not a safe place for any Kalifornian.
