and for the 100th time just because its not legal or illegal in the civilian world does not mean it is going to be or has to be the same in the military. We are well aware there are gays in the military, wat we dont know doesnt hurt us, go it. But the point is now they have all the freedom in the world to let it be known, and thats where the problem starts. Mostly for them as someone previously stated. Just because they pass some sort of document or law up in congress and all that goodness, doesnt mean the individual on the ground is going to say "oh well". Hazing's are going to go up along with any other anti-gay act you can think of. Just because a law is passed doesnt mean now when a gay guy says im gay, the same guy who wouldnt have accepted it before is going to accept it now.

 

I doubt that the gays are going to put a rainbow patch on their uniform and broadcast to the world they like dudes.

I would assume there will be more lesbians than gay men in the military anyway!

No they arent because you cant add un authorized patches and such to your uniform. Wtf is "Code Reds"

 

Discipline with in the unit. A good blanket party can straighten out the weakest link with in the ranks.

If they think its going to cut back on these things happening theyre wrong the rates of un-ethical treatment twords them are going to go up. Reguardless of what people think or think they know, once again the military is different and if the soliders are not happy with something they will take things into their own hands, whether you think its right or wrong.

 

So basically people are homophobic. Hazing people you don't like isn't covered under the consitution. Gays know the risk when they join, and straight recruits know the consequences if they are caught doing something they are not supposed to. If a gay man knows he will be beat, then he will either keep his mouth shut or get beat. He has a right to serve.

 

How do you explain cases where highly decorated soldiers have served for years and then gets discharged because they were outted on their sexual preference?

Problem people get worked out of most situations. If you are a good worker and do your part without being a nuisance, most people will accept you.

You don't have to be best friends with people from different races if you are racist, same way as you don't have to hang out with gays if you are a homophobe but if you are an *** to them you'll suffer the consequences like anyone else.

 

If I was training day and night for combat situations, our success and safety dependent on how well we work together, and there was a gay guy messing up the morale of our squad or platoon, you bet your a** I'd haze the crap out of him, and I bet I wouldnt have a problem getting others to join me.

You realize the whole point of Basic training is to teach you how to be a soldier and a team player in a warzone. By the end of your training you wouldn't even be thinking of everyone's sexual preferences, just the objective you've been told to do.

you are terribly terribly wrong. Basic training ia SUPPOSED to do that. Realize that after basic training 95% of you will never see each other again. Yall do the bare minimum to do what you need to do to get out of basic training then its deuces im going to learn how to actually soldier from my unit. Basic training teaches you how to do pushups, basic customs and curtosies and they attempt to teach you to shoot. Dont even get me started on this new basic training program they got going
