Another watch...
Added to my collection...
Anyone have a Tissot? I'm usually a Seiko or Citizen guy.... and a friend of mine said I should try my luck in this watch. I bought it off Amazon, because just in case I don't like it, returning it is a snap.
However, instead of it going in my safe, I'm going to be wearing it, and yes, I'm hoping to get 20+ years out of it just like my Seiko Kinetic beater that I got handed down my Dad, when he bought it in 1990. I just need to seriously overhaul it and I need to sit down and examine what it needs. About 6 years ago I replaced the capacitor, but it's acting up again. Not sure if it's the capacitor or if it's the stator going. If it's the stator, I'm going to having fun fixing it.
Speaking of which, does anyone know where I can get a Seiko 5m23 AGS movement donor that is either rebuilt or for-parts use? Ebay and Google is of no help.
Expensive tastes to be a beater... but with a 200M water resistance, water this Tissot shouldn't be a problem. At least I hope not. I will be mad if it doesn't last me 10 years.

I've heard great things about Tissot. My cousin is a bit of a watch collector and has 2 Tissots and 3 Citizens. Loves all of them.
This is my watch, had it for about 2 years, absolutely love it.
Not a scratch on it yet and I wear it daily. My dad has had a tag for decades and it has never let him down.

I have two Tissots. They are actually part of the Swatch group (Omega) and share some of the components as there more expensive cousins.
I have worn a T12.1.596.31 when hunting, fishing and other outside sports for 9-10 years now. Two batteries and a small scuff or two it still runs and looks great.
I have worn a Stainless T-Touch almost daily for about 9 years and it has not missed a beat other than having the battery changed twice now.
When those are on the dresser the Omega Seamaster is on my wrist.

Not all the time I have a cell phone handy... especially when I'm outdoors working or even indoors doing some jobs where bringing cell phone isn't the most practical thing.

Well, I haven't had an automatic chronograph added to my collection... I merely want it have me keep time so when I go out running or cycling, I can keep it on my wrist and keep on running or peddling without the any worries of breaking it... plus I want something that I can wear it normally.
I've never had any issues with my '90s era Seiko AGS, but I love the sweep second hand and the fact that it's all mechanical. I love anything that is purely mechanical. Yet I'm a computer dude... go figure. I like manual transmissions, carburators, clutches, and anything that is mechanical.

For decades all I had was a cheap Timex. Never paid over $30.00 for watch as it was probably going to get destroyed before it ever wore out. I had a good friend give me a Swiss Army Divemaster watch like this one:

I really like this watch for whatever reason. I've never taken so much care of a freakin watch in my life.

Timexes for many many years - now I have a Casio Wave Ceptor - I prefer digital watches with large display. This one even has the daily radio time correction and a solar assisted battery.
