Another watch...
You both should enjoy your new Tissots. It has been my experience that the quartz batteries will last between 3-4 years and the crystal can not be scratched.
I will warn you to be careful about where you take them for service. I thought the local dealer had gone kaput because a new jeweler was in the location. This jeweler sells Rolex, Tag and few other high end brands as well as claims to have a full time, certified watch repair shop blah, blah blah. I took my T-Touch to them to have the battery replaced. They notice a small bit of corrosion from the battery and recommended it be cleaned. A few weeks later they still hadn't gotten it back to me and now claimed it needed a new movement. It was only when I picked it up that they told me the old shop had moved across town. I took my watch to them expecting the worst. Two days later it was back on my wrist working perfectly, nothing was wrong other than a dead battery. From now on mine will only go to a place that sells Tissots or Omegas (as they are from the same parent company).

ça va? Avez-vous été à Paris récemment ?
Yeah, I was surprised just what The Swatch Group holds . . . among other things:
Pierre Balmain, Hamilton, Rado, Omega SA, Longines, Union Glashütte, Breguet, Blancpain, Jaquet Droz, Glashütte Original, Léon Hatot, Tiffany & Co., and Endura.
And, in the name of efficiency, lots of those brands share parts. Tissot? Can you say essentially Omega?
Non, il y a des trois ans depuis que je suis à Paris.
I'm sure they do share some parts among the group. The type and quantity I do not know. I have seen marketing that has Tissot as lower cost Omega but above the entry level market somewhat like Mercury to Lincoln.

For sure on the Mercury to Lincoln thing. Tissot is an entry level Swiss watch. I like this because it has a clean design, I wanted black on black and it was inexpensive. Win win all around.
A bientôt.
