They aren't, I went to the hospital to visit my mom in ICU a few years ago and it was the only spot available in the parking garage. The funning thing is when I came out to leave there was another F150 backed in next to mine.

I think I will drive out there tomorrow. I like the idea of a tailgate party and using those spots. Maybe for the black friday sales.

Fuel efficiency is open to interpretation depending on the vehicle in question. If I feel that 14 MPG is efficient for my truck, who are they to say otherwise?

i purposely do this. These sign are retarded and should be torn down. just because you drive a vehicle that consumes less gas then everyone else doesn't give you special parking privileges. Kudos to you! Its even worse with the spots marked COMPACT VEHICLE ONLY.

The origin of the signs is likely some do-gooder member of the planning commission or city council. They probably required the developer to put the signs up as a conditon of approval.

i think its a best buy marketing strategy. when I worked at best buy they put up special signs like 'parking for expecting mothers' because that was a group of customers they wanted to appeal to. at the moment, i'm sure best buy is trying to attract the envirofreaks.

I wll have to double check my books, but it's probably a LEED requirement for a point. It may be BB is trying to qaulify for a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Efficency Design) existing design. They give you points for adding bike racks, showers to encourge employees to ride their bikes to work, having bus stops close to the store, upgrading their lighting, reducing water usage, etc. It's been awhile since i did a project, but i think one point is to set aside parking up front for more fuel efficent vehicles. I don't think they actually define what that is.If anything, it should be for hybrid vehicles, then they could at least clarify that... my personal opinion is a lot of this crap is smoke and mirrors. A lot of it is counter-productive. They want more natural daylighting to reduce the lighting inside, so add windows. Well, now you just made a huge solar load on my HVAC design, increasing the size of my equipment. We're going backwards here!!

I already don't shop at Best Buy due to a previous marketing blunder and this certainly won't change my mind.
