I still own the first album I ever bought with my own earnings which is "Meet the Beatles". Got it in 1965.
I also bought their LP "Abbey Road" off e-Bay a couple of years ago for $5.00us.

Eh, they're ok, lot of respect for George for some of his work (Something, While My Guitar Gently Weeps), glad they set a precedent for some other acts, glad they were influential, but they're like a PG version of the Rolling Stones to me. Rolling Stones, now there's a rock band. They're raunchy, sex, drugs, tasteless, unholy nastiness, everything rock'n'roll should be.

One of the things George didn't care for was the fact most of the Lennon/McCartney songs were rhythm based and he couldn't show off with lead riffs.

George was a lot better than he gets credit for, he's a very innovative rhythm player, and he was capable of lead.

George was an accomplished guitarist, no doubt. But a great guitarist does not make a complete musician. His biggest money maker and best seller is:

The Dark Horse album, which I also have, is not equal to anything the Beatles ever did even at their worst. But I doubt the Beatles would have had the charisma without him. He was the mystic part of the band. While Paul and John were the "brains" of the group, they all contributed to the success of the band. But yeah, George was accomplished in a variety of stringed instruments. Too bad he didn't have the creative juices like John and Paul.
