Today started bad

Don't have pictures yet, but got into an accident on the way to work. Truck is drivable as long as I go straight. Front bumper is pushed to drivers side about 1 to 1 1/2 feet. steering wheel a little of center, grille crushed, hood popped a little. Pics when I have time to get them.
I was waiting in the intersection to make a left turn, light turned yellow, and as I started moving red. Guy ran the red and plowed into me in a Saturn. It is totaled. Driver was hurt some, but refused treatment. Looks like he wasn't wearing a seatbelt and even though his airbag popped he hit the windshield. He did admit to the cops he ran the red. Go figure.

Good luck with the legal stuff. VERY hard to remain faultless when making the turn. Here in Colorado it is your responsibility to make sure the intersection is clear before proceeding. Same thing happened to my brother about 4 months ago, except the chick was speeding and he was on his motorcycle.

Sorry for the really crappy phone pics, but these are all I m going to get at this point. Dealer has the truck (they have a very good body shop). They have already stated that it will need a new frame. Beyond that no numbers yet. I had 24k miles on this and it did not have one scratch, door ding, or anything. Worst it had was a chip in the windshield at the top edge from a stone.

I would make the insurance company get you a new one. No way would I take a truck with a replaced frame.....you will never get any kind of money out of it and it will never drive the same again.

That's where it helps to be in a state that allows claims for diminished value.

I would much rather have a new frame than a repaired one. New frame should be no different than what came from the factory.
We shall see what happens with the insurance.
From what I could see, what is going to be replaced is the frame and the front clip. Didn't check to see if any damage in the engine compartment, but there were no fluid leaks, no even from the aux trannie cooler.

Glad your alright kf. Your alright.

What I can't believe is that their even contemplating replacing the frame. Aren't they usually totaled instead ?

I guess I'm just thinkin they would total it. My 99 wasn't that bad , - wrecked it 2004 (F350 7.3L). I drove it home, - insurance said the frame was bent and totaled it. But I had more miles on it.

as long as everyone walked away, that's the important thing, trucks can be repalced and repaired
