Why?
The best looking truck I have ever owned was my silver 2000 F150 Supercab Flareside. I just love the look of that truck, best one by Ford IMO. I would probably pick it over my 2001 Harley Davidson F150 Supercrew that I used to own.
I agree the Supercrew does have advantages, but I'm never going to have a family. Its only going to be me and my other half. I love the King Ranch but I refuse to pay for the extra money for space I do not need nor want. A Supercab fits my needs perfectly. I just wish instead of having pre-made packages for the trucks, you could order a truck that is EXACTLY what you want. Example is: to me I can live with crank windows but I absolutely LOVE moonroofs. If I want vinyl carpet with crank windows, why do I have to be punished and not be able to have a sunroof. An option is an option in my eyes. Its $995.00 option, so why not just let the customer have what he wants?
Well, after visiting several local dealers, and only finding extended cab small trucks that were beat to crap, overpriced, 4 banger automatics, or all of the above, one dealer asked me if I'd consider a standard cab full size. I sat in it and to make a long story short, I bought it. It may be an XL, but it's got the upgraded interior with the 40/20/40 cloth reclining seats and carpets, along with a tilt wheel. It's one of the few vehicles I've ever owned that I don't drive with the seat all the way back.
My truck is not a family car. It's my personal daily driver vehicle.

Ive had all scab trucks untill this one I have now. When i went looking for a new truck 2 years ago because my wife was pregant with our first and we only had a 03 ranger scab at the time with no option for a baby seat, I found a 03 FX4 scab at my dealer that i was gonna trade in for. After talking to the guys there and them telling me that with that year scabs the back bench is narrower that the screws and with baby seats here now are so big they feel tippy on the bench. So they offered me a 06 XTR screw for the same price, I really didnt like the looks of the 4 door but now that I have it, Ill never buy a scab again
When I was looking at trucks I really wanted a Screw just for the extra room but settled for the Scab. I don't really even need an extended cab, a regular cab would fit me fine. I just think the Screw's look better.
I agree that generally Supercabs look better, but if you have a family and/or business needs, you can't beat the room and versatility of a Supercrew which is why Ford sells a ton of them. It was the only reason why I didn't buy a Raptor (yet) as its Supercab configuration just doesn't work for me. But then I saw the new Supercrew Raptor and really don't like the looks of that near as much....but I am sure once I get to see one personally I'll want one.
When I bought my truck, I was actually looking for a used extended cab Ranger or similar. I was under the impression that a standard cab truck wouldn't have enough front seat room for me to get comfortable - this was my impression from sitting in them and driving them years ago, they were NOT comfortable. They were bench seats that didn't recline at all, and no room to recline even if they could.
