Why?

Why are there so many supercrew trucks and so many less supercabs these days? If you look for a new truck using, say ebaymotors, the only supercabs around are Raptors.

Also, why is it you cannot buy a XLT supercab and option it to have a moonroof? Only the FX models, Raptor, and Lariat you can get a supercab with a moonroof. Some people prefer the XLT so why can't a moonroof be had?

One last gripe, why can't you get a Harley Davidson, King Ranch, or Lariat Limited in a supercab configuration???

The reason I say this is because I really like the King Ranch and Lariat Limited but I will NEVER need a supercrew. Because of that, I either have to live without the truck I want, or live with a truck that is too big for my needs. :(

I have wondered the same thing on all the new models. I love my 01 supercab with moonroof. For my first truck, its all I will need for a while, though a supercrew would be nice sometimes.

I think you see more SCrew's nowadays is because they generally look better. Not my opinion, but many do agree. I still dig the RCab flareside look.

To answer your second question, I think it's makes sense to offer the moon roof for the higher end models instead of the XLT's.

It's easier to haul family/friends/clients in a screw than a scab.

The majority of people buying an XLT probably have no desire for a moonroof. They just want a good mid-level truck without all the bells and whistles.

HD, KR and Lariat were all available in scab configurations in the previous generation (97-04 Heritage).

Just buy the bigger truck. I have a screw, but I have no use or need for a truck that big as I have no family and rarely tote many people around. I could do with a reg. cab.

I think the Scab looks better. It looks like more of a "truck" in my opinion, but the Screw is most popular because it seats more comfortably.

I think screws look unbalanced. Supercabs with the 6.5' bed look very nice.

These are the only three types of trucks that I'd buy:

Reg cab 8' bed
Scab 6.5' bed
Scab 8' bed

I really want my next truck to be a scab with a 8' bed.

(The longer the better! :D )

I love SuperCabs!

I've have owned two Supercabs and a Supercrew, I will not own a Supercab again. The Supercrew is the best of both worlds, I have a ton of space in the backseat for people or stuff and plenty of room in the back for other stuff. A Supercrew with the tailgate extender has the same amount of bed space as the Supercab for those few times you really do need that extra bit of space. Cab space in the Supercabs always seemed to come up just a little bit short of what I needed at the time.

Its because people like me, that have a kid, for the first 8 years according to some stupid politicians idea, are required to stuff their children into a booster seat which leaves little leg room for the little ones in the back. Forget a backward facing child seat in the rear...

Just not as comfortable overall.

Appearance, comfort, re-sale, baby seats, dry storage, ect.

sure gets frustrating when shopping for a truck dont it. i hate super crews.

Standard cab short beds forever!

offroadn'98 11-16-2010 04:26 AM

These days, not about what you need. Bigger is better, ppl are gonna lean towards the screw.

Im partial to supercab shortbeds, also like regular cabs short or longbeds tho. I'm 6'7" had two regular cab fords, they have a ton of room still.

I agree with both of these statements. Supercabs DO look better. The Supercrew looks like a van with a bed. The Supercab has a better ratio of cab to bed.

Me too. That's why my wife drives an SUV...so I don't have to drive a grocery getter! I will never own a crew cab.
