Nothing beats a real Philadelphia Cheese Steak! I think if I ever get to the point where I know I'm having my "last meal", that's what I'd want.

And I'd wash it down with pint of Guinness!

A number of years ago while in Princeton, NJ, I had to go to D.C. and decided to drive.

It was at this time that I happened to be hearing a lot about Gino's and Pat's, and the inevitable arguments about which was better. (It is worse than "red" morons v. "blue" morons arguing). I had never had either Gino's nor Pat's so, like the idiot that I am, I decided to stop in Philly on the way and try them both, one after the other.

I went to Gino's first and ordered a sandwich. As soon as I finished I drank some water and walked across that weird intersection and then ate an entire sandwich from Pat's. (Fortunately - or unfortunately - I had not had breakfast so I was able to finish both sandwiches).

I then continued my drive to D.C. Arrived at my hotel. Checked in. Went up to my room. Got violently ill.

So what have we learned here? Between Pat's and Gino's . . . you can have one, or the other, but not both at a single sitting.

By the way, in case anyone is interested . . . they were both good, but Pat's was better.

You have to drink Guinness in an Irish pub (in Ireland of course) and preferably with a big helping of fish and chips. Although the fish and chips in New Zealand are damned good too!

Actually, it was almost a tossup between the cheese steak and fish and chips. Philly won out!

Oh my. I'm thinking this would kill you right away. No slowly waiting for your arteries to clog. This would cause an instant heart attack.
That looks totally disgusting!

I move to the midwest, have breakfast my first day here and can smell this odor . . . it was really familiar. It was B&G. I had forgotten all about it. I ordered it so fast I think I frightened the waitress. And . . . it was . . . awesome. And in the three days here I have had B&G . . . a lot. (And have gained 50 lbs since moving here.
Kobi- You know how to get with the program don't you? One of my DIL's is from Alabama and down there if it's not deep fried and dripping with grease, they won't touch it! Now you understand why there are so MANY fat people in the Mid-West (and South).

No thanks, I'll stick with my Peanut butter and Broccoli Burritos! Or maybe some Spam and whip cream for dessert!

But the Biscuits and Gravy sounds good.

Yeah, I don't understand why everything is "chicken fried" either.

Special K, next time you're at a "fair", see if you can find some fried Oreos. The one we went to had both the vanilla (tan?) and chocolate oreos. Soooo tasty.
