Funny Payload/Towing Stories

So I am off of my normal job on Friday and my friend called me up and says "Want to go to the local six flags and take down a ride for some extra $$$ on friday?" Sure, why not? Relaxed work(no boss breathing down my back), I hang out basically while I work with a few friends, and we get some money at the end of the day. Well I have a 2007 F150, not what I consider a truck at all, more of a trucklet. So I tell my parents that I just got a job for Friday and my dad's first response is "You better not be using the truck for any of that work!"

1)It is my truck, my insurance, my choice
2)Its and F150, as soon as a single I-Beam hits it, its as good as overweight
3)We can either use the F150 with the little 5.4 gasser engine or the F-650 Cat C7, which seems more appropriate for the job?

Anyways he got all pissed off thinking I was going to use my truck to do the work. He hasn't caught any of my hints of what I think of the F150. It is a nice daily driver, but if I was hauling a load, it wouldn't be my first choice, not by a long shot.

Since this is an F150 board, I figured maybe you guys had some funny stories about over loading a vehicle. I remember about 2 years ago, I was talking about someone who was towing 28K with an excursion and the 7.3L engine. There was also one where some chevy owner thought it was a good idea to put about 8K worth of tree in his bed in a single shot, I think he drove a 1500 at the time.

Anyone have any funny stories?

Yea i got a good one.

we preached to everyone on the last day that i was bringing a hot tub to school.

Filled my bed with water, using painters plastic to hold it. Drove it to school on the last day. at the end of the day it was FILLED with girls and a few guys. prob had twenty people in the bed.

STUPID. my truck was SOOOO overweight. but it was SOOOOO worth it.

F-350 with a 6.0L pulling some 17,000lbs with a pallet of icemelt in the bed in around 2ish feet of snow. Icemelt pallet had probably 50 50 pound bags totaling 2500 pounds.

I had 13 people in my regular cab '93 S10 when I was in college and I was the only one in the cab.

One time I loaded that truck up with so much scrap metal that the differential cover got stuck in the mud before the tires did when I was at the junkyard.

I dont really haul all that much with my F150. Usually just bicycles and occasionally my atv but nowhere near overloading.

I overload on a regular basis, just gravel or bigger rocks or firewood or just random crap. Truck holds up well.

The heaviest thing I really have in mine is my dog.

300 Gallons of water in a 06 F-150 XLT 5.4L scab 6 1/2.
That's 2,503 Lbs by my guess.
Made three trips that day with 300 gallons of water each time.

Was it over loaded, oh yes.
No problems getting it moving at all on canned level 2 gryphon.

I hold the firm stance that if I had the springs/brakes to support the weight, moving over 3,000Lbs in my 150 would be easily done.

it might be a "little gasser" but its more than enough to get the job done. the 5.4l can move more than the truck can load, now in a F-250 I can see it getting pushed to the limit.

Regularly haul 1 ton pallets of wood pellet fuel. Rides about half an inch off the bump-stops but it gets the pellets home!

I tow and haul well over the rated specs of my truck. It's not my DD, so that's really the only time I drive the truck, when I need to tow or haul something.

Not saying I condone being unsafe, but I've been towing and hauling what I feel my truck can safely handle for years now. Most of which is on short trips around town. Few pics with proof in my gallery. Hauling mulch, firewood, towing big boats, etc. One tough Ford!

I was helping my dad put a pond in his backyard a few months ago and he wanted some lava rock to cover the small hill behind it.

Pictures were taken with the truck pointing slightly uphill.

Here it is with about 2200 lbs or rock in the bed:

Here it is empty:

This weekend I plan on picking up a pallet of salt for plowing and that will weigh about 2500lbs not sure yet if I'm going to mess around with my trailer or just have them throw the entire pallet in the truck in one shot.

Why not haul that heavy stuff with your F250?

It has a salt shaker on the back of it, so chances are it doesn't have room for the salt itself.

It's fun pulling these Mardi Gras float's with my 150 when most other's are using diesel's. They can weigh over 10k pound's loaded down.
