Chevy Camaro: Hornet
Chevy Camaro: Hornet
What's up guys & gals, it's been a while since I was active out here- I know this is a Ford site and all, but I think at the bone, we can all appreciate a nice vehicle, no matter who builds it.
With that said, this past weekend, there was a sports bar grand opening n Plano, TX- and they had a little impromptu auto show. There were a lot of nice cars shoehorned into that small lot. I didn't get as many pics as I wanted, but I got a few. One of the cars that had everyone's attention was a Chevy Camaro, that the guy named "Hornet", Bumblebee's evil twin.
The pics I have don't do it justice, but suffice to say- from what I saw, if a new Camaro SS costs $34,000- this guy has easily put another $15,000 - $20,000 in it.
Underhood-

Sideview-

Chevelle SS-

Why does everyone with a new gen Camaro feel the need to put a Transformers sticker on it? Oh well, I don't like the new Camaro's anyway.
The Chevelle on the other hand is nice. Would be better if it didn't have the big ugly wheels on it.

I've seen a few, but most of the time I see them with badges, they're yellow. There are at least three "Bumblebee" Camaro's in my neighborhood, at any given time.
I like the new body style, and (I can't believe I'm gonna put this in writing, but) I think I like the Dodge Challenger (gulp) more than the Camaro.
However, if I had $40,000 burning a hole in my pocket, even though I think the Hemi Challenger is sexier, I'd still buy the Camaro over the Mustang GT (although the 'Stang is off tha hook) or the Challenger. It's just something about that side view, that wins me over.
Friends don't let friends drive Dodge's...

Not too bad, but I don't see 20k... so rims, a little underhood bling, and some stick on transformer stuff. does it have a turbo or two, can't tell...
Hey Bighersh, what's a "binner?" I was just reading your sig.

I had the opportunity to test drive one of those new SS Camaro's. Loved it.
If I was in the market for a sports car, that'd be it. Saw a deep mettalic lime green one with black racing stripes a few months back, I like the yellow too, but the lime green would be my colour.

Or maybe not. IAW the urban dictionary, "binner n. - The new and politically correct terminology for a person who makes their living by searching urban alley ways and dumpsters for refundable empty cans and bottles."
I can see that.
No matter how many times I look at them, the new Camaro's just don't do anything for me.
In fact, I've often thought about how cool it would be to get one for a daily driver just so I could park it outside, wash it at the local quarter car wash using the "scrub brush on a stick" and generally let it fall into aesthetic despair just to see the look of horror on the faces of the local "GM guys".......
Holy crap -- when was the last time Hersh was around here......?!?!?!

It could have 1,000 HP, and do 0-60 in 1.4 seconds, and the BMW crowd could care less, if it isn't Bavarian. Man, you should have seen how riled they got when I casually mentioned the ***-kicking the 556 HP CTS-V handed the M5 in a head to head comparison. LOL
I just can’t force myself to like the new Camaro; the back end looks like it was squished in a vice, the roof line looks like a botched chop job and it’s a GM product so the quality will be suspect at best. The only thing it has going for it is that it ain’t a Dodge.
I have a 2011 Mustang GT, so obviously that was my choice of sports car. However, I drove the Camaro SS and Challenger RT. Both are okay, but not the same as the Mustang. The Challenger looks reat, the Camaro not so great. I just don't like the front and the fact that you can barely see out of the thing.
That Camaro's under-hood looks nice, but as with many... the body style just doesn't do it for me either. I think Dodge did a nice job on the retro look, which is where chevy screwed up. Trying to create a modern looking '68 didn't come out so well
