wireless networking help
my tv stand need internet for my xbox 360 and my directv dvr. the directv dvr uses the internet for downloading the ondemand some of it is in 1080p. it need alot of bandwidth and i can watch my dvr on my pc. im trying to hook it up wireless so i can get the wire off my floor. i was looking at buying a wireless bridge for my tv stand. will that work? i have a linkses wireless g routers. this is what i was looking at. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833127256 . would this be the best way?
I would tend to agree.
Is this streaming, or simply store & forward? If it's the former, be advised that HD content requires at least 40 Mb/sec to enure consistent quality.
Wireless G won't cut it in this ( streaming) case - you'll need to get N routers and configure for 300+ Mb/sec (40Mhz channel widths, etc).
If it's simply download then stream from local storage, the only effect will be on the time it takes to download.
BTW - Don't cinfuse bandwidth with throughput - two different things.

I would personally get some cat6 cables and do it wired. Wireless isn't the same for gaming and videos etc. Here's a cheap place to get the cables, I buy mostly all of my cables there.
And if you need a router you can never go wrong with the WRT54GL with DD-WRT or Tomato firmware. The firmware can turn it into a $300 router with the right configuration.
