powerstroke f-150..?
powerstroke f-150..?
I have been throwing around the idea of taking on the project of putting a deisel in an f-150..
Has anyone on here seen this done before?
I think the idea of a half ton truck with a deisel in it would be badass for sure.
I figured atleast someone has done it before..

In my opinion it's not worth the time or money, unless you have money to through out and a truck with a bad motor. Just buy a superduty and be done. I have seen guys put diesels into 70's model f250 which I would do in a heart beat if I had the cash and a crew cab 78 or 79 truck. But again on a newer truck there just isn't enough there on the front end to carry the load of a diesel.
Powerstroke in an F150? No thanks.
What worries me about this is the frame itself. I understand that the frames in the Super Duties is stouter than the frame in the F150s. Plus, I have seen earlier diesel powered pickups with bent frames and door gaps that you could fit a Sunday paper through. Also, transmissions need to be swapped, wiring and computers, fuel systems, rearends, and a host of other things that would make it cost prohibitive.
Personally, if I want a diesel, I'll get a Super Duty (or Freightliner or Peterbilt).

this is one of those how much money do you have to blow things. powerstroke in an f150 is of course possible, but itd be expensive. you'd need and entire new front suspension, beef up the frame, etc. you could fairly easily swap in a 12v cummins. there are plenty of those out there and plenty of companies that make conversion kits. plus the 12v's can get some pretty mean power...
What year truck are you thinking of doing it to?
I would think it would be fairly easy in an '80-'96 since theyre the same body and share alot of parts with 3/4 and 1 tons and you can swap over suspension parts fairly easily.
With a '97+ its harder because theyre not at all similar to the heavier duty trucks.
