Class Action Lawsuit For Lawn Mowers
I just took a quick look at it myself. But it could have been a retainer clip.
I guess we could bust the muffler open to see what's in it

The plug was good, and the valves looked like they were sealing. Like I said it also had compression, and no scoring on the cylinder wall. But somethign did hit the top of the piston. When I visit him again I'll check to see if the head will hold liquid. I did compress and release the valves while I was there, they felt good also. I'll check it a little closer next time. I was just in kind of a hurry that day. Thanks!

I bought a new rider one week later with a Kohler.
Dont plan on ever going back to briggs. While back in the day they were king they are crap now.
Remove your carb and look inside of it where the air flow flap is at. It has two small screws. They will vibrate out and be sucked right in. I had both of mine go at the same time. Son of a gun redlined and damaged the engine. I had to replace the carb, but now she is for sure down on power and burns oil. Got to loave those b&s inteks.

If you ask me, they've got a serious uphill battle ahead of them.
