well i went to the ford dealership today and they hooked the truck up to the computer and said the speedometer is 100% accurate.

btw the cruise engages at 25 in my truck, i drove with the cruise on because i just had major ankle surgery on my right leg and it hurts to drive for extended periods of time so going down a straight road i just stick the cruise on when im not stopping and going. I wasn't in any hurry so i was doing 30 cause i thought i would go slow and cruise...

so what the heck do i do now?

Either pay the fine or convince the popo's that their radar gun is off.Good luck with that.

YOu could ask for calibration recors on the radar, supposed to be done annually, and operator training record. Other wise get a lawyer and go for equipment violation.

Did you LOOK at the speedometer when you saw his lights?

Somethings amiss here. The cop probably should have been able to tell just by looking if you were going almost 10mph over the speed limit.

How did the dealer check the speedo? Can they check it with the tires rolling? Still maybe the calibration for the tires maybe? I would check it with a GPS to see what it says then. If you don't have a GPS surely you know someone with one that you can borrow.

If you have a good driving record, quit screwing around trying to prove you are innocent. Hire a lawyer and get an improper equipment. Pay the small fine and the lawyer's fee and be done with it. I think anything else is flirting with a moving violation and points on your license. It all boils down to insurance, insurance, insurance... 3 + years of higher rates if they nail you for the speeding ticket.

Something is really wrong here - 35 zone, you say you were doing 30, but the cop got you for 49??????? Either his radar picked up an airplane or you are lying through your teeth. If you aren't lying, fight it and bring the paperwork from the dealer on your speedo cal.

well the town is known for crooked cops so im thinking thats why this is happening. i have a clean driving record, never been pulled over before this crap. spoke with a lawyer and he said this should be easy to get rid of. it just drives me up a wall that i got a ticket and wasn't speeding because some guy decides to be a *****. im not saying im a golden child, i do occasionally speed but who doesn't?! it just wasn't this time. but im taking it to court and fighting it. so maybe an update after all that?

I can set cruise control at 11mph. It's also an XL, without power windows or anything, but CC.

I'm just as confused as the next man.
