Crazy Question

Well I was driving friday night and got pulled over, officer wrote me a ticket for a 49 in a 35, but my cruise was set at 30 in my truck. How can I fight this ticket? I KNOW I wasn't speeding. The officer said it was because of my "oversized" tires, which are only 31's....I have a superchip and the tires are calibrated anyways. So what should I do?

Why the hell you driving 30 on a 35 MPH road? Using the cruise control set at 30......doesn't make sense. Who's to say that the tires are calibrated correctly on your chip.

Does your cruise set at 30? Mine won't.

No, the CC will not engage under 35MPH. Something is amiss here...

Edit: Thinking more about this your speedo is either way off or the cop clocked someone else and nailed you instead. The speedo in your truck is electronic. If the motor in it is starting to get weak it could be not showing the correct speed. It is a common problem in the GM trucks for the stepper motors to go out on the gages. Have you checked your speedo versus a GPS since the ticket? I would do so to isolate the problem. If you do find the speedo to be wrong, a receipt showing it has been fixed could go a long way in front of the judge.

About your only chance would be to take it to a speedo shop and have the speedometer calibrated, and see what you end up with. Then adjust it accordingly with the Superchip programmer. Then you may be able to get it reduced to an equipmant ticket, by showing the documentation.

For everyone else the cruise in my 01 Expd, can be set at 25 mph, and up, so I would have to believe the earlier trucks to be the same..

the cruise control doesn't work below 30mph. maybe you put the wrong tire size in you programmer and your speedo is off.

You will never be able to get it to cruise at exactly 30 mph. It takes around 32 on mine to engage it.

Even then, why the heck are you using cruise at that such speed?

I don't believe it...

My pickup and mustang CC engage at anything over 25mph along with many other various vehicles I've driven...

Double check with a gps and read the super chips manual again.
Somethings wrong with the setting or speedo.
