Every night I take 2 tylenol pm rapid release capsules. I usually take them about a hour and half before I want to go to bed, once I lay down I'm out. Its worth a shot for you to try.

I used to have my own ways to help me sleep... But seriously, I've been looking to change jobs for about 4 months so that's out.

I have a normal cup of coffee in the morning and NO caffiene the rest of the day. My fiance recommended I take "Simply Sleep: From the makers of Tylenol PM". It worked for about a week and then the tolerance left me awake again.

I've avoided Ambien for two reasons. One, I don't have health insurance so getting a prescription is expensive. Two, I saw my Dad take it once and he was *******ed up (!) before he went to bed.

So, I'm up late every night. Thinking about the new mortgage, the new car note, and the baby in my baby's belly...singing "Take This Job And Shove It"...with my eyes wide open. I feel your pain.

I used to suffer from sleep problems myself, but managed to cure them with some simple things that are relatively easy to do, and may become addictive.

1. I take a nice hot shower about 1 to 2 hours before bed time. This seems to relax me to the point where I go to sleep so much easier.

2. Go decaf within 3 to 4 hours of bedtime. This was a BIG help. After dinner, I usually stick to water if I am thirsty.

3. This is the big one: Sitck to a set sleep schedule of when you go to bed and when you wake up. If you get your body into a set pattern of when you are awake and when you are asleep, it really helps.

Other things that help: Take the TV and computer out of the bedroom, they will only keep you up and not help with sleep; a cooler bedroom also seems to help; and a dark room also seems to help.

As for Ambien: Never tried it, and will not use it. Heard way to many horror stories.

Sounds like everyone is Edward Norton from Fight Club. We're gonna have a bunch of Tyler Durden's soon!

Yeah, i can't sleep at night. Average prolly 2 hours a nite. Like, i have no problem sleeping in the day tho! lol i catch up on my sleep about once every 2 weeks and i'm out of commision for about 17-18 hrs. wish i could just sleep in the day. But i can't bc school and work and stuff. Walmart has Melatonine (spelling), it takes a week or so to get in your system, but then it does pretty good. There isn't any side affects, your body produces it naturally. That's prolly your best bet. Try the 3mg to start out and take it about half an hour before you wanna go to sleep.
Good luck

PS... One thing that helped me when i used to try and fight it before i gave up, was drinking ONLY water and thats it, no matter what time i stopped drinking caffine/suger junk i had more trouble sleeping than if i had just drank water all day.

i take Melatonin from GNC. you dissolve it under your tounge and it activates the melatonin in your body to help you fall asleep. its great and i use it to adjust to time zones and to sleep. i have issues sleeping because i spent most of my career on night shift.

Well after staying up over 34 hours straight the other day, then collasping into nearly a coma I had to call into work. I got a dr. appointment this coming week to discuss things, problem was I laid down at one point and tried to make myself sleep.

I kept having different things racing through my mind driving me mad, I get up and play some games or watch tv. Then start thinking and dreading the fact I couldn't sleep I ended up having a panic attack, which I haven't had but a few in life. This is no good time to go to dr. I have too much going on to be coming down with panic attacks. I think I need a adjustment in work scedule and start controlling my sleeping patterns better.

my girl has insomnia issues and she is always tired. doesnt help her much she goes to work at 8am and gets off near 11am everyday for 7 days a week. im trying to help her.

i think you should try melatonin. its only like $5 at GNC. get the 500 mg tabs and see how it works. i use the 300 mg tabs and i pass right out in 20 mins after dissolving.

I work night shifts as well, go in at 7pm and get off at 7am, then usually now that I have a child and family life I stay up till 10-11 mandatory. Then lets say on a day I work I get back up at 5 and go into work. If I am off I get to be around 10-11am and get back up at 1 or 2pm to get my son again.

Once I have gotten up I stay up and lay back down at 10 or 11pm and wake up on a normalized schedule due to babysitting. Once That day is over I try and stay up as late as I can. I have been doing this now for about 8 months daily and thats about how long I have been having these issues. I have been having sleeping paralysis issues for about that long too. I have done some small research and alot of nervous, axiety and sleeping problems can come from a disfunctional sleeping pattern.

Talking to the wife, I have taken a few too many days off this year. 1 here and 1 there, usually caused by getting that insomnia during mainly that day I babysit then that evening I keep myself up later due to working night shift the next day. Those are usually the days I end up awake 20-30 hours. I just think im going to let the docs at the VA do there thing, I have a good mind and common sense. I think maybe something to claim my nerves, something to help me sleep and a change from working nights for 7 years to working 1st shift and not changing sleeping patterns is my best bet at this point. Either way I have to do something.

One those days where I go to bed at 11am and wake back up at 1 or 2 pm after being up so long I am a hornet and its starting to effect my family life.

I feel like such an insomniac!!

I felt so sleepy last night around 9:30ish passed out on the couch for about an hour, got up and hit the bed slept till 1:30 woke up to a baby crying. Been up since then mind wont shut off.

I do believe this will be my last night of this, going to the VA for a appointment with the medication doctor. Or Therapist whatever you wanna call em.
