Not good. Not good at all.

Do what I did and call your congresscritters and ask them why China can drill off our coasts but we can't. Most aren't even aware of it. The only way to change this is to make some noise.

Kinda old actually. China has been drilling off our shores for years and then selling the oil to us- not a bad scam. It just shows what morons we have running ...or is that, ruining this country. What the morons may not know is that the largest deposit of crude and gas is between Florida and Brazil. The extent of the field is still an unknown as it grows daily. It could be possible that most of the Gulf of Mexico is nothing but a cover sheet for this deposit. But, our politicos in Washington are far too smart to take advantage of that. Then again, there's the political correctness of global warming and if they developed this field, prices would fall and gas would be cheap again allowing you and me to drive more and drive cars/trucks we would enjoy driving instead of environmentally friendly (read, power over you) econoboxes. Besides, somebody has to feed these muslim countries that are trying to kill us at every chance. Just typical Washington stupidity.

Get the facts correct, they are drilling off the coast of Cuba, not the US ( FL ).
France & Canada are also drilling off the coast of Cuba.

So if China is drilling off the coast of Cuba, then this has nothing to do with the US. Thread = VOID.

Regardless of whether it's off the coast of Cuba or off the coast of the US. (Both in the same proximity from my last geography lesson.) the point is are we going to continue to debate the effects of drilling in these areas while other countries tap into the resource while we posture legislatively?

He was trying to read the notes he scribbled in the palm of his hand. But the ink had worn off and was illegible.

I still found it informative...

Whether Cuba or not...

It's not like there are a ton of miles between Cuba and Florida.

People float from Cuba to Florida on wooden doors all the time.

Still, the mistake was made so, vengeance is my Right. Is vengeance going to bring your son back to you or my boy to me? I forgo the vengeance of my son. But my youngest son had to leave this country because of this Sollozzo business. So now I have to make arrangements to bring him back safely cleared of all these false charges. But I'm a superstitious man. And if some unlucky accident should befall him, if he should be shot in the head by a police officer, or if he should hang himself in his jail cell, or if he's struck by a bolt of lightning, then I'm going to blame some of the people in this room and that, I do not forgive. But, that aside, let say that I swear, on the souls of my grandchildren, that I will not be the one to break the peace we have made here today.

The point is, that this country could be energy independent within a year or two, put a ton of people to work all while drastically reducing the price of fossil fuels if the government gots is god dam hands out of the private sector. Oh BTW GE, whos CEO is Jeff Immelt (just happens to be on MaoBama's economic advisory board) just got awarded new drilling contracts. I thought tht P.O.S. was going to end back ally deals?

America was never about right, fair, etc.

It was built on trying to make the most money for our selfish selves.

We've succeeded so far in that aspect.

Who cares who gets screwed, as long as it isn't "me".. is the way people seem to think

That is simply not true. It takes a minimum of 6 years to develop a new oil source and get the product to market. That is not counting regulatory approval. Because we produce such a small fraction of our consumption currently, there is no way there is enough equipment, engineers, etc. to go from 10% to 100% in 6 years, let alone 2 years.

You have been fed another conservative lie.

I thought you would be happy that Obama is expanding domestic oil production? George Bush certainly didn't because his family has billions of dollars interest in middle-east oil. When oil becomes more expensive, they make out like bandits. Industry and government have always been intertwined. It is only a problem when there is corruption (elected officials personally benefitting financially from their office). Maybe you are a naturally angry person?
