That is pretty crazy! Some of my friends have full coverage and they pay like $1,200 a YEAR.

Even on my car it's $450 every 6 months.

Full coverage with a $500 deductible on my '05 F-150 runs $361.00 for 6 months. The most expensive vehicle on my policy is the '08 Mustang GT, at $452 for six months. The cheapest is my daily driver '97 Ranger, at $120.00 (basic liability only) for 6 months. My actual "out-of-pocket expense" for each vehicle is a tad lower, since I get a pretty hefty discount for paying my policy in full.

Since both my F-150 and Mustang are garage queens and always will be, I look forward to the time when they start getting older and these rates drop substantially from where they are now.

This is always the misaligned game.

What one person calls full coverage, is not the same as the other person. ( 100/300 250/500 500/1000 ).
Some call full coverage the max that the carrier offered, but other carriers might offer higher coverage limits.

Aside from what limit is considered full coverage, other considerations :
1. If you have home owners with the same carrier ( or if the company offers a home owners discount if they do not write this type of coverage ),
2. If you have lowered limits due to an umbrella coverage
3. Gap insurance
4. deductible selected
5. What is your credit rating
6. What is your driving record.
7. your age
8. your marital status
9. rental car coverage, and daily amount/
10. Other "Add ons" Some will offer road side and other options like this for a "nominal fee" or part of the policy, which can drive the cost up.
11. If you have a monthly bill, what is the surcharge for this ( coverage is usually 6 month terms, and paying per month can be a 25% APR charge for this service ).

The big one is what does your state have for insurance requirements, if any.

IL is a minimum coverage state, where you can get by with 40K in coverage for the other guy where MI is a no fault state, and you will pay through the nose for this type of insurance.

Best way to compare is to provide everything that makes up the cost of insurance in your state, which is a lot of items.

Full coverage - I don't have my policy with me so I don't know my exact liability limits - $250 deductible collision, zero deductible comprehensive, medical, emergency road service, car rental, uninsured/underinsured costs me about $400 every 6 months. My homeowner's insurance is about $800 a year and my $1 mil umbrella is under $100 a year. All with State Farm.
