2011 Ford Edge info?

Anyone have any insider info on this vehicle? I'm pretty sure it'll be released next week at the detroit auto show, but was curious on any new features it will have. I've read that it's rumored to have the new 4 cylinder ecoboost engine, I think that would give it a big step in fuel economy. My wife and I bought her a Honda Fit Sport last year when gas was 4.50 a gallon, and we really outgrew the car pretty fast.

My wife was recently in a fender bender and she soon realized how vulnerable she is (despite 5 star crash test ratings.) Regardless we both like the current ford edge as a replacement, but I'm really curious to see what kind of upgrades will be in the 2011 model.

Well I was looking at CX-7's because i think they have a good combo of style and performance. However, I went to edmunds.com and looked at some of the owner reviews, apparently the 2.3 I think, whatever it is it's the mazda3 or 6 speed turbo engine. That thing is allegedly a P.O.S. in CX-7 form. A lot of the reviews talked about the engine simply just destroying itself. But i like a lot of the current Mazda styling.

Don't know much about the 2011 Edge. I drive an '07 and believe that although it isn't much of a looker, it's a good vehihcle. I looked at the CX7 too. It's not much of a looker either but a little more "youthful" than the Edge. I didn't like the reviews that said that the turbo 4 wasn't up to the job. Some said it felt slow. Couldn't have slow.

I did find this bit about the 2011 Edge.

Yeah... also, don't forget... you'll need to fuel it wit 91 or greater (R+M)/2 fuel (95 ROM)... which stinks.

I have no clue why Ford wouldn't dumb the injection down to accept regular 87 octane. Stupid move Ford.... eco boost...

Instead of calling it eco boost, which is really isn't, they should call it what it is: Turbocharged.

I really want to know how many people are going to kill these new eco boost engines by running regular 87 in them... or how many warranties get voided.

My dad chose to buy a 2010 Edge last week based on what he had heard and read about the 2011. I take it he didn't like some of the small appearance changes and the some other nit-pick type changes they made. He is a picky car buyer though

From driving an Edge as a rental... it really isn't a bad vehicle. It's not for me... but it's not bad.

I think your Dad made a good choice.

I wish that the new Edges would be Turbodiesel instead of a gas engine turbocharged... It'd be the best fuel economy crossover in existance.

Not to mention people won't screw it up by putting in the wrong fuel. As in there is really only 1 diesel fuel.

Yea, I'm not really much for the getting in and out. Something about the "pan" you step into, and I always catch my feet when opening the door cause you have to lift your feet out of the "pan bottom"... I guess It would just be how used to getting 'up' into my truck I am. They are a really nice car though.

Here is his edge:

If you ask me the differences 'styling' wise between the 10' and 11' models looks minimal..

If I bought an Edge it would be the Sport edition in that blue. I think the Edge sport is the best looking edge there is.
