America- The Next 100 Years

I heard this guy on talk radio yesterday. His name is George Friedman and he is the head of STRATFOR which is a global security company. His views on the next 100 years are really interesting. He says that China will never be a world power and says why. He claims our biggest threat in the next 20-30 years will from Mexico as it emerges as a world economic power. He also says that while we are complaining about the illegals today, with the worlds population in decline, we will be courting these same illegals to come here to work. He's a very intelligent guy and listening to him was a joy. Optimism for a change. He says the Age of America is not ending but just beginning. Here's a clip of some of his comments:

If you get the chance to listen to the guy on the radio/tv, you'll find it hard to turn him off.

Some interesting opinions but they are his opinions. I don't think over 800 million people in China all depend on WalMarts survival. We will have to meet here at the start of the next century and see how many of his pridictions were right. See you here.

Unfortunately, what he's saying goes against world trends. The dollar is in decline and is headed to be replaced/removed as the world's reserve currency in the next decade.

He needs to read "Power Rules" by Les Gelb of the CFR. I wish to see America perpetually on top, but "Mutual Indispensability" is where the world is headed. And that means a less-powerful America with lower standards of living.

This is why you have seen America lose jobs over the last 20-30 years. To weaken us and meld us into the global order (all the while blaming it on "greedy and evil" corporations). When America has to depend on other nations for it's wares (as we do now), we are at the mercy of our trading partners and leverages our power throughout the world to act on our own.

He is intriguing to listen to, and makes some good points, but nothing he said stands out to me. I'm a proponent of 'The world is Flat', where the US is free from any threat from China because they don't want to bomb the building they own. I say that jokingly, but I'm sure China views the US as any company views it's customer. The same goes for US companies with a global presence. Even Ford has a big plan in Brazil that may play a bit part it its ability to be efficient and survive. There's already a global presence of power, and I do think the motivating factor is profit, the love of money, or greed.

In that respect, I don't see the need to encourage immigration to replace our aging work force, because we can hire those workers right where they are now, just like we did when we moved the textile industry to the Chinese workers.
