The Death of the Explorer

http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-explorer-2011.html

2011 will be on the Taurus X platform .

They were good SUVs for a while, now theyll just be another station wagon.

That may save them money tho. More people would drive that then a gas thirsty Exploder. The uni body vehicles are becoming more and more common.

Yea they were; I hate the feel of the interior. Reminds me of the ranger. I hate rangers.

I actually love the new (current) explorers. Theyre smooth and quiet as hell.

What's going to happen to the 12,000 lb GCWR 7,115 lb towing capacity?!

I would never dare to tow 7,000 lbs with a unibody...

Let me guess no more V8 and its going to be a class II only capable of 3,500 lbs like 3/4 of Ford's vehicles...

Thats what I see happening too. Don't know. If you look at the hitch it looks pretty beefy. But the unibody is whats scary. Everything today is mpg's, mpg's, mpg's wth? Its all a myth.

Yah...

We've got a 2007 Jeep Compass 4x2, and it weighs 3196 lbs... with the 2.4l Dual VVT i4 coupled with a 5 speed manual, and cranks out a whopping 24.5 mpg.

My 2007 F150 that weighs 5180 lbs with the 4.2l v6 OHV 4x2, 5 speed manual gets 21 mpg.

Guess which one I love?

The F150 of course... I feel safer in my framed vehicle than in that unibody entrapper...
