This thread had got me thinking about our children and guns. My daughter and I had a talk about Glocks. She said I want a Glock (I wonder where she heard that type of gun? Couldn't be from that rap music huh?) Anyhow I told her you might want to be sure you can rack the slide easily.

So pulled out my XD .45 and let her try. It was difficult for her, but she got it racked. I said she might want to consider a revolver like my SP101. She can easily handle that gun and work up to full power loads if she wants.

Think I will get her, her own SP101 next year, thinking a 3" model (I have a 2 1/4" one, that is DAO)

Bought my daughter (3) one of these after posting this thread. Went to Wal Mart last night and picked it up. I got to thinking, she cannot rack it, so I will do it for her, and teach her gun safety. Probably gonna get flamed for starting her so early, but when she's older, she will never be a victim. Too many women are.

Only flaming I'll do is that guns are not toys. But that can be up for debate as I had many a toy gun when I was a kid, and I think I'm a pretty safe handler of firearms.

Yeah, I know that guns are not toys...but the nerf gun is a way to start teaching her safety and how to shoot. By the time she can rack a slide, she should be able to know the difference.
