I am 18... most of my friends drink. Is it wrong, yes, is it illegal yes. Does that make them a bad person? No. I do not drink and that is my choice. I have no desire to drink so I could care less. However, I can not go out as much as those who drink because I do not want to be in situation and have a party raided. My idea of a good time is something I can remember. Those that put up pictures of them drunk and high (one kid I know currently has a profile picture of him using a bong) is foolish. I would be furious if my kids did this is. It's irresponsible and means bad parenting and lack of supervision. But what do I know?

If a kid is blatantly drinking in public he/she deserves an MIP.

I'm not gonna say people under 21 shouldn't drink b/c I myself did it, along with probably most the people here. Now I wouldn't of gotten mad at the cops if I was busted though, b/c I knew what I was doing.
But kids drinking underage at a public tailgate party is pushing it. That's walking the line, even more so on campus. Colleges can get into a lot of trouble if something were to happen to an 18 y/o who was drinking on campus at a college event so I understand the need for trickery.

im 19. and i attend parties, im not gonna hope out there and say its bad parenting, because my parents know i do, and when i do, i stay put until the next day. i dont do drugs, smoke (anymore) or dip (anymore)

people that get so drunk they dont remember anything and drive around with open containers deserve to get ticketed, i know if your under 21 and drink its against the law. i think posting pictures of yourself drunk with a beer in your hand is ridiculously stupid and they deserve a ticket as well if they get caught. i know people in high school that are about 15 years old that get drunk EVERY weekend and mama pays their tickets.

Just because something is illegal, doesnt mean it's wrong. You said underage drinking was a result of bad parenting (which suggests that drinking underage is inherently wrong).

Anyway, back to the topic. Cops are spying on people to charge them for meaningless/harmless violations of the law, while betting that people wont challenge the charges. It's either (A) stupid; (B) stupid & a waste of tax money; or (C) stupid & being done only to collect money from people.

I have no problems with the actions of law officers because I have nothing to hide.

Doing something wrong does not necessary mean it's illegal, but doing something illegal is wrong....thus drinking underage is illegal and wrong to do so.

I don't get what you are saying....."charge them for meaningless/harmless violations." Isn't a violation a breach, infringement, or transgression, as of a law, rule, promise, etc? If you do what is right you have nothing to worry about.

malum prohibitum (bad simply because it's illegal) v. malum in se (bad because it is inherently wrong).

Drinking underage isnt inherently wrong. That's what I'm saying.
