I am def. sold on going new. I have had luck so far with refurb'd stuff, im not going to push it, ha ha.

glad to see people like this better than the PS3, thats what I first was going after, for the sake of the bluray player. however i will just buy a standalone unit for bluray, i would rather have the better game selection and experinece with the 360.

cras_luck13: 12 xbox's!!!! damn bro! is that what your SN means? lucky 13th xbox? lol.... do you have Microsoft on speed dial or something? I see the stripes on your shoulder, I wont be playing COD with you! ha ha, I want to atleast live for a few minutes and shoot a few rounds.

I do not need a dressed up fancy-shmancy console, just something that works, hell it could be pink for all i care, just work and let me shoot zombies!

(sigh) off to stare at the best buy ad in the Sunday paper.....

oh i totally for got to mention...the reason i am getting this....

my wife is due with our first child in approx. 10 days...so i need something to kill time while i am on daddy leave from work...all newborns do is sleep right?

Well I figured I would have to feed it once in a while, but other than that game on right?

They say dont be quiet around them, do as you usually would as the womb is a loud place. Nothing like rapid gunfire from the TV to keep a baby calm right?

ps3 graphics are ALOT better, but i prefer xbox live because of the options and what you can do. you can now download games, watch netflix movies, all kinds of new stuff with xbox live.

yeah man 12. they usually last around 4-6 months, SOMETIMES. spend the extra money and get the intercooler for it. also, blow the dust out of it once a month at least. it got to the point where i could fix the rrod in less than an hour, but after awhile, i mean it's NOT supposed to do it, so it's aggravating.

remember, i'm NOT a typical user, so it SHOULD last your lifetime lol

Do not ever use the intercooler, it has been proven my Microsoft that it causes failures. It will do more damage than it will ever help, it causes the power block to overheat and fail. Do a simple Google search and you can find all kinds of info on it.

they have a new version of the intercooler that has been out for like 6-8 months that has its own dedicated power supply and thermal switch.

if you get a new unit do NOT get the "intercooler". the jasper units use more efficient fans and the intercooler actually blocks flow, causing it to warm up.

Playstation Network Xbox Live
I get online gaming, video on demand, video chat with the PS network. I do however pay for the on demand, but it's a pay per view good for 24hrs.

What does xbox offer under the yearly subscription? I haven't had XBOX in a few years so I'm out of touch with it..

My friends (xbox fans) have switched to PS3, not because the online was bad, but because of multiple problems with the XBOX unit itself.

We get online gaming that is unmatched, free video chat as well, and Xbox gets Netflix now. Download all you want (HDD space permitting). Not to mention with the new project Natal (6-axis like PS3 and something else to do with the Wii) and the ability to browse Facebook and Twitter, Xbox is really getting up there. I agree the 360 has had itsd fair share of problems, but its worth it, IMO.

Besides, every time I play the PS3 I have a flashback to 1996 with the original PlayStation because I'm holding the same controller

I have a few friends that have PS3s and i have flash backs watching them do 30 to 45 minute game updates. Reminds me of the old load times

Like most have said go NEW. When you purchase it look at the back and you can see a Manufacturing date. Make sure its later than August of '08. I do believe most of the old chipsets are no longer around but you never know what Microsoft/Best Buy/Gamestop..etc, still have sitting around in old stock. Go to a website called xboxscene.com Lots of great info on the RROD and what manufacturing dates to look for, to insure a good chipset.

I'd buy the Pro version at Gamestop for 199 then go on e-bay and get a 20gig HD for about 30 bucks shipped to your door and the recharge kit for the controller...bam..good to go.

this is exactly what I did, except I got the Arcade for $199. Refurbished 20GB HDD + 3 months of Live = $30. Definately going to need a recharger kit for those controllers.
