OFFICIAL 2009 College Football Thread
Petey bitched last year about being left out of the National Championship say that USC was the best team in the country on multiple occasions.
How can you say USC is always on top, when they only have 1 National Championship in the last 30 years?

seeing as how there wasn't a real national championship until the BCS came about (in 1998?) you are right but your logic is stupid. How about USC finishing in the top 5 for most of this decade? how about 7 Heisman trophy winners, the last three coming after 2002?
I believe it was deemed "a share of the National Championship."

I didn't mean to turn this thread into a USC-only debate, ignorance just gets me frustrated
Blah, blah, blah. They both have an easy scheldule. Some years USC's is tougher, other years its Florida. Until some playoff type system is brought in, nobody can prove anything. All you can do is sit back and hope they meet soon. Good chance this year. USC has already played one of their toughest games. Florida is looking at going again this year. Pretty much only thing in the way is the BIG 12. But Texas doesn't have an easy road ahead of them. Plus I'm holding out for the Sooners. They still have a chance.
Here's to a great upcoming season, and good matchups.
And here's to the BIG 12, tougher then the SEC and Pac 10 combined.

Want me to go on? Colorado was supposed to win the Big 12 North...Not so much anymore
How about #3 Oklahoma losing to BYU? Common, even the UofA Mildcats beat BYU in their bowl game last year.
Or how about the #5 Oklahoma State losing to unranked Houston?

One thing you can say about the Big 12 that you can't about the Pac 10 is that they have more than one team to carry their National Championship hopes.
Saying they are the best team in the country and whining about not playing in the title game are completely different things. It's arguably true that USC was playing great ball at the end of the year, for what it is worth.

And BTW, the textbook thing is not nearly the violations that USC is about to get hammered with.....
You might as well go ahead and reduce that Heisman total to 6, cuz Bush will not keep his trophy.
not sure what text book thing you mean, chum, but I know Bush's step-dad allegedly took money from an agent to buy a sh itty house. pretty stupid, obviously, cause now Bush is worth millions. The only way they can ring USC up on that is if they can be proven that USC, specifically Pete Carroll or Garrett knew about this. I don't think that'll happen. You have to look at what this will do to the Heisman Trophy too, they sure as heck don't want this scandal to affect one of their own, so the NCAA probably has to deal with that too.
That special teams business earlier this year was nothing.
the Mayo thing is another thing entirely. Absolutely disgusting, I hope Floyd never gets a head coaching job again in his life
