Red Light Camera Question???

I was out driving my pickup and came to a stop at a red light, but the camera still flashed twice anyways. I was no where near running past the line nor were there any cars infront of me that have gunned it. Is it normal for the lights to flash anyways after it's turned red?

It's the same as the video camera ones. The still camera is set to flash each time the light turns red no matter what. When the pics are reviewed (however that's done??) if you are not in the intersection, then they can't (or shouldn't) ticket you.

We have several of these around town and they flash each and every time the light turns red. Really noticable at night!

I've turned right at red light camera intersections all the time... Question is.... Did you come to a complete stop first? If you were on video, then they could tell that I'd think.. Just a thought..

I'm getting into the habit of looking up at each intersection to see if there are cameras present.. Not that I regulary run red lights, but I've gone thru some that were 'orange'! ha, ha!

Very noticeable at night...

I was driving east, and some guy apparently sped through the intersection headed west and I saw the flash go. Blinded me a bit. Wonder if the flash has caused any accidents.

Pheonix can likmabolls

On a business trip I received a ticket via a camera. I was heading back from Chandler to Tempe and there was a flashing school zone sign at 7:30 at night!!!!! This flashing light goes off that I thought was lightening. Turns out the f'n traffic camera took a picture of me. I was sent a ticket in the mail. I never paid it. I live in Houston. My question is how in the hell you can get a ticket for being in a school zone at 7:30 at night!!!!! WTF??????

I saw the video of the one my sister got and it was very blatantly red.

The just almost got me here too. The added some new ones and I ran a yellow but freaked out cuz I didn't know there was a camera or if it was red so I guess I'll just hav to see if they try and give me one

From what I understand about most of the cities that have installed them, they are making a lot of money off of them! So, it's just the initial investment to come up with, but it pays for itself and once that's done, it's all 'income' for the city at that point!

Since it's not a vehicle violation, just a fine it won't go on your driving record the same way as if a cop pulled you over for running a red light....

My town is putting up more and more each month! Pretty soon, I suspect each and every intersection will have one! Even when you enter the city limits, there are signs warning you that they have the stop light cameras.. My Garmin is loaded with known stop light cameras, but it's pretty out of date, as the newer intersections are not on it. Might have to see if they have regular updates? I got the initial one for free, so you probably have to pay to get updates?

they changed the plates last year, went from the raised letters to flat. heard that was because the cameras have trouble identifying raised letter plates. i have no idea if that's the truth or not. still haven't seen a single intersection camera in my area.

in missouri one time my dad came to a stop light and rolled forward a bit. it was night so the flash was visible. scared the bejeesus out of us because we had never seen anything like it before.

There was one light by me that generated over a million in about 4 months or something like that, over 10,000 tickets issued.
