Unfortunately, that's been bred into society for the last 60-70 years or so. Canadians are so afraid of losing their identity and becoming Americanized that the government, here, will do anything to differentiate themselves from their US counterparts. It's really stupid, but what can you do? There is at least one major challenge before our supreme court, the Bruce Montague case, and hopefully that one will get us going somewhere in the right directiong.

I won't say "cause their threating me" (mainly because that's horrible grammar), but I will say because they are threatening me. It boils down to human nature, and instinct (traits God gave us). We look out for number one. If someone points a gun at you, then you shoot them.

And re: high powered weapons: Should we not be allowed to have hunting rifles then? Those things do A LOT more damage than an AK round.

So you wouldn't defend your family? You're going to need something "high powered" to take down some of the thugs around here.

The right has nothing to do with ending someones life. It has everything to do with ending the threat. Whatever that may take. One has a right to self defense. One has a DUTY to provide for his own defense. It is not, nor has never been, a duty of the state or government to protect individual citizens. Public safety exists for the safety of the whole. Not the individual. It is your responsibility to provide for your own safety and defense if the need arises. And then you will need the tool that gives you superiority over the level of threat. How do you determine ahead of time that the criminal threatening you is going to have sub par ability to yours? If he can, legally or illegally, obtain an AK then you will need something at least as capable to counter it.

Your responsibility for your own safety and defense should never be infringed upon unless someone else (the entity infringing) is willing to provide that personal protection to you and yours. 24/7. The reason you have and bare arms is you cannot find a Police man to carry around.

You have no "right" to take a life. But you may be forced to in the act of defense. And then it is not taking, it is him choosing to risk giving his. The criminal is at fault for his actions, not the victim.

But if you do ever have to shoot anyone remember this.

Dead men tell no lies.
