Post Is your MPG average above, right on or below EPA?

I'm not new to Ford PUs but the F150 I jsut bought is the first I've had in 10 years. Seems like many on this site are concerned about the MPG they are getting. A site poll on owner satisfaction showed most concern with "performance", whatever that is. Could that be MPG? EPA mileage info lists probable average MPG and a range running from 3 MPG below that number to 3 MPG above. Within that 7 MPG range, performance is considered "normal". Do you get the EPA figure, are you below that average figure, or are you above it? Have you made modifications to improve MPG? I've never owned a car or truck that I didn't get the high end range of MPG, and that was without modifications. Will my new Ford PU change my luck?

I think mine is below. best city I've got is 12.9 and only highway I've got is 15.6. That's with crappy winter gas. I don't know what EPA is for the 4.6. You can tell I'm going for performance by reading my sig. Look up performance in the dictionary if you don't know what it is.

Future mods: Supercharger, headers, NOS, tranny upgrade(heavy duty gears, clutch packs, etc.), performance torque converter, composite driveshaft, bore cylinders 30 over, new pistons, crank, and rods, get performance heads or port the ones I have, gauges for the a-pillar, new L if they still make them and I like the way it looks, and a Z06 Vette or BMW Z3.

I think the window sticker was at 16 city, 20 freeway. Long term average is right at 17 mpg. Routinely log 20+ mpg trips on long freeway hauls. Pretty darn close.

Cool

After over 50,000 miles of legal speeds, its still 11-12 in town and 13-15 (rarely 15) on the hiway.

I don't remember what it was rated, but I'm sure it was better than that. This is the first truck or car I have ever had that didn't get better than the EPA ratings.

I still love it like a bad girl friend!
