Didn't say it was, but it looks like a Mitsubishi Raider, aka an ugly *** truck. All of Ford's styling is boxy and "bold". That is neither of those things.

All I want to know is when is Ford going to bring all of there diesel engines offered all around the world to the US? I would love to have a diesel truck, but I don't need a 3/4 ton.

Actually, I think the truck in that link Labnerd posted is pretty cool looking.

The only problem I see with the Ranger replacements I have seen floating around on the net is that Ford seems to be following everyone "upsize" in this segment. I think they would be far better off to keep roughly the current dimensions of the Ranger, and simply redesign it to be a kick-a$$ small truck!

They would be unique, in that they would really be the only remaining compact truck, and with some nice modern drivetrains that delivered in the neighborhood of 30-35 mpg's they'd be in great shape once the price of gas starts going up again!

I've also wondered why they couldn't just take an existing platform (the Escape, I'm thinking?) and simply place a truck body on it? They could build it in the same Kansas City factory as the Escape, and to me, that would seem to be an extremely economical way to offer a more modern version of the compact pick-up!

So you don't think the younger crowd would like one of these? It's also slated to have the 300+HP 3.5 in it. I see endless possibilities for customizing this truck.

I'm in my early 20's (pretty sure that falls into "the younger crowd") and theres no way on God's green earth that I'd drive that thing over my F150.

I don't understand how Ford can nail the full-size truck market. Then they turn around and put their name in this.

I thought (and was hoping) that they were scrapping the Ranger.

I want to know what the benefit of 6 lug is. I know you can haul more and have better weight distribution per stud, but why on a mid sized truck? Isnt the max tow gonna be around 4,000 pounds?

Max tow is >6000 on all Frontier models with the V6. This guy pulled ~8000 fine.

I think it would be a great combo -- the F-150 if you needed a heavier duty truck, and the Escape-based Ranger if all you needed was the ability to haul the occassional bulky item home from Lowe's. It wouldn't have to be a workhorse vehicle.....
